I have been playing with my $2 black and white wrapping paper again, only this time I used a clear glass paperweight to make the patterns. I couldn't decide which one I liked the best, so have put it together in a diptych. The difference in the pattern on the paperweight depended on where I held the camera.
I think I prefer the one on the left, but David preferred the one on the right. What do you think?
I think I will give this type of photography a miss for a while now as it makes you go cross eyed!!!
Posting early today as I have got a busy afternoon and evening ahead.
It is so cool what you have been able to do with this paper! I really both images but agree with you that I like the one on the left a smidgen more!! Great optical illusions!
I like the one on the right too, It got to be viewed large and the pattern changes around the peripheral of the ball just add more dimensions. It could be displayed in Tate Modern!
Fantastic, Babs! The one on the right reminds me more of a zebra and the one on the left is the zebra's tail! Think I lived in South Africa too long!!!!! Your creativity has certainly been on the increase since finishing your year!
@iwatts@bugsy@huvesaker@goosemanning@hermann@888rachel sorry i missed some people. Sorry about the group reply offto Canberra and I Am doing this on my phone. Will be in touch soon. Thanks for your lovely comments. Mixed as to which is best. Made me cross eyed this one.
Sorry I've been a bit hit and miss with my comments lately Babs and only just catching up with your pics. I thought I liked the one on the right better but now I've changed my mind!! Both are great and yes they do set the eyes off a bit.
@paulaw I've not caught up either till tonight, only got back from 3 days in Canberra earlier this evening. Will catch up tomorrow, off to bed now!! Been a very busy few days. Had a great time though.
@gamelee@debilz@mabuss@libertylady@libertylady Sorry for group reply, but it is late now and we only got back from a few days in Canberra a couple of hours ago. Will catch up in the next couple of days. This one sent my eyes crossed too.
Terrific shot - I like it just as you have posted it - with your explanation of how you took it you have opened up the whole idea of experimenting!
It reminds me of the work of the artist Bridget Riley.
@andyr Never thought of Bridget Riley, I suppose it is a bit Op Art. I was a teenager in the 60's so well into Op Art, Mary Quant and all that. Dating myself now.
