I took these two photos of mailboxes at Tidbinbilla when we were in Canberra a few days ago and though they would suit the mundane challenge.
I couldn't decide which one I liked best, so I made this into a diptych.
I like the one on the right, too. Lovely sunlight - is the lack of grass usual for this area or does it reflect having had a lot of heat in recent weeks?
I think they're both great, and demonstrate so well the individuality many rural people display with their mailbox. The photos certainly show too that the Canberra district is still drought-stricken!
Babs, I love the mail boxes here in Australia, these are a great example. There is a place down the Putty Road which for the life of me I can't remember it's name at the moment. Great diptych, I think the one on the left could do as a chicken coop as well. I went to Tidbinbilla a couple of years ago, had a great time.
Thinking of you this evening and I hope tomorrow you can find some joy in the day.
@mercuria Thanks Ariel. Yes it is very dry at the moment. This was taken when we were in Canberra a few days ago and it was 39 degrees every day. Not rained for a while. They had a terrible bush fire about 10 years ago and the conditions are looking the same again now. Hopefully it will rain again soon.
Where I live we have only had 7 mm rain since the beginning of December so pretty dry here too.
@sunraye Thanks Raye we are very creative with our mailboxes in Australia. @heidihp They very probably are handmade Heidi. Country people are very creative.
@elaine55 Thanks Elaine. I just love our country mailboxes here in Oz.
Tomorrow will be a positive day. I don't think I could go through another year like the last one. Our youngest grandson starts school tomorrow and is so excited, so tomorrow will be a happy day for Archie rather than a sad one for Zoe. We have to remember the good days not the bad ones.
