Harry? by onewing

Harry?

I normally post a people picture on a Friday, but am a day late this week. This photo was taken last Sunday on our photo club outing to Newcastle.

On the wharf is a café which was originally a tram and has been converted to a café. It is called Harry's café de wheels and we stopped there for a cuppa and snack on our photography travels.

Don't actually know what this chaps name is but as he is the resident chief cook and bottle washer I will call him Harry.

A bit late posting tonight as we have been at our regular wine tasting get together with friends.

Every couple of months we meet up at one of our friends houses (different house each meeting) and we each take food along, the person hosting the get together buys 6 or 7 bottles of wine, which we all contribute to the cost of (usually 3 red and 3 white) and we sample each one and figure out which we think is the nicest, what the cost is etc.

Usually of course, there is more wine along the way.

As well as the regular wine tasting etc. tonight we had a quiz about wine and I won and the prize was a bottle of wine. Everyone thought it was hilarious that I was the winner because I am the person who drinks the least and also know the least about wine, so it was a sheer fluke that I was the winner. Luckily the quiz was multiple choice questions and so I just had to guess.

Our wine tasting is becoming very popular and today we had 17 people.

I will catch up tomorrow with all your photos, a bit late now and even though I don't drink much I am a bit tired and off to bed. Hic!!!
Just love that chap, the setting - super candid. Chheers!

Great candid image, interesting to see another tram converted to a cafe. A Melbourne tram resides at the Irish club in Mt Isa, now a restaurant. We have a Brisbane tram at our Stanthorpe property, hubby rescued it for a price, but it will not become a cafe as the interior has been partially restored.Your mini wine tasting sounds like fun :-)

I like the tips box at the front and the name of the cafe on the till, Harry looks pretty pleased with life too. I like the sound of your wine evenings and congrats on the win. Not really allowed to drink much these days with my rheumatoid arthritis drugs but I do like an occasional glass of nice wine!

Great picture, love the display on the cash register screen. You're very imaginative. BTW, thanks for alerting me to the incorrect time notations on my camera. I finally tracked down the culprit to a setting in Aperture where you can set the camera for local time. I'd been in the Philippines earlier in the year, and forgot to reset the import settings. Not my brightest moment. Thanks again.

@ivan @jackie8 @derekvickers Thanks so much. He was quite a character. He had bacon and egg roll on the menu and when I asked for one he said he only did them for breakfast, but when I smiled sweetly at him he took pity on a poor starving soul!!! and made one for me. I had to take his photo after that.

@hermann Thanks Sally. Wow lucky you to have a tram on your property, I am so jealous. I would love one. Would make an excellent shed here.

Nice people portrait. The wine tasting sounds fun! I know what I like in wine but I don't retain any details in my memory so I'm really clueless about whether I've drunk something before!

@angelar Thanks Angela. We usually have a wine tasting get together every couple of months. I can never remember what wines I like either which is where our get together tastings comes in handy. We have a score sheet and record which ones we like best.
