I am a bit late posting tonight because we have been to a talk at our local community centre and the talk was part of the Port Stephens Marine Discovery Series called The Bold and the Beautiful. There were two speakers and the first talk was about humpback whale migration in our area and the second talk was by a local diver and photographer who gave a talk on sea slugs that inhabit our region. The bold being the whales and the beautiful being the sea slugs.
The whales are migrating north from Antarctica up our coast at the moment to give birth in warmer waters.
Today’s photo is another one I took on Sunday at Birubi Beach. (Didn’t spot any whales that day), but I did see the camel train along the beach.
If you look carefully at the photo you will see a brown area in the water where the sand is being swirled up in what I think is a giant rip in the ocean.
A fave Babs as this is so unusual to see camels walking into the sea. We always associate camels with the desert so this phot quite takes my breath away. Love the line of them & the familiar outline .
@pennystot@annepann@nicoleterheide Thanks so much for dropping by and for your lovely comments. I just love camels. My husband doesn't share my interest. ha ha.
@espyetta@anazad511 Thanks so much for the favs and for dropping by. I have taken a few shots of the camels at Birubi Beach as it is one of our local beaches and one of my favourite too.
This is amazing! I agree with the people who made the association between camels and the desert, and with those who said how amazing, stunning, great, delightful and fabulous this is! It's just breathtaking - the person walking, the group of camels and the beach!
@kchuk Thanks so much. This is my favourite beach in our area and the camels are regular visitors here probably because of the sand dunes which go on for miles all the way from Anna Bay to Newcastle. I would imagine the camels feel quite at home here.
@julzmaioro Thanks Julia. What you can't see in this photo are the miles of sand dunes which go from Birubi to Newcastle. So I would imagine the camels feel quite at home here.
I believe the movie Tracks was filmed in South Australia and the Northern Territory, but could quite easily have been at home at Birubi.

I agree, camels are very uncomfortable to ride on, but I do love them.
Do pay us a visit Andrew, I am sure you would love it here. (Don't tell too many people though we don't want it to get too crowded) Birubi is one of my favourite local beaches along with the beach at the bottom of our road.
