What started out as a beautiful morning with blue skies and sunshine turned into a very wet windy and cold afternoon. Luckily I managed to get the washing dried before the rain came down.
I was planning on going out this afternoon to take some photos, but not venturing out now as it is pretty chilly.
This is a photo I took yesterday as we were leaving Newcastle. The sunset was amazing and we pulled over in the car so that I could get a couple of photos.
One of my all time faves Babs....this is just stunning! All those layers of "rust" & the twinkling lights ........not much light either you have done a wonderful job!
Oh Babs, I LOVE this. One of those shots that moves me. I have a thing for industry and that it has a beauty of its own. We just don't live near much to capture. My sister and family live in Newcastle and last time we drove up I did think that in the right conditions it would create some beautiful shots and here it is. Fav fav fav fav
@flyrobin@onlyme111@gigiflower@ibt@wordpixman@dianeburns@dianeburns@angelat@leestevo@yaorenliu@pcoulson@happypat@hermann@denisefuller@darthkitty@creampuff Wow, thank you all so much for your lovely comments and favs. What a fantastic reaction to this photo. As I live by the ocean there isn't much industrial scenery near where I live, so when we go into Newcastle (about 60 km away) I really get an industrial fix. Although I took my camera with me I didn't get chance all day to take any photos and it wasn't until we were just leaving when I noticed the sunset. I asked David to pull over and I jumped out of the car took 4 photos and this was one of them. Just goes to show always have your camera with you.
@newbank Thanks so much. Sorry but I don't know your name, only Newbank Lass. Thanks so much for the fav too. This Newcastle scene is at Newcastle in New South Wales, Australia though, not Newcastle upon Tyne. We don't have much industry where I live either as I live by the ocean at Nelson Bay which is about 60 km from Newcastle, so I really love having an industrial fix when I get chance. Although Newcastle has some beaches etc too. Must be in the blood the love of industry though because I was born in Yorkshire (UK that is), ha ha not another suburb in Australia with the same name. We pinch all the English names here.
@onewing my name is Ruth and I had a feeling you weren't from the uk.... It's hard to keep up at times with where everyone is in the world on 365! Still fabulous fabulous shot.
@newbank Nice to meet you Ruth and not to worry. I get confused at times about wherever I am in the world never mind anyone else. I am from the UK originally and we have lived everywhere as my husband was in the RAF and RAAF(thats Royal Australian Air Force). Now retired though and I am not moving again. Thanks again for the fav.
@888rachel Thanks Rachel. It does look similar doesn't it. the structures on the left are the coal loaders loading coal onto the ships and the structures on the right belong to Orica Chemicals. They are at Kooragang Island in Newcastle. Thanks for the fav too.
Wow, that is just amazing Babs! A truly gorgeous shot with that amazing sunset and silhouettes! We had the same weather today except no rain here, just freezing gale force winds! Ever since the first day of Winter we have really got it haven't we? x
This is wonderful Babs. Wonderful composition and colours. I have just read your kind comments to Denise and I was so moved by your story. So many people on 365 have had tough times but are such an inspiration like you. Follow
@eyesmile Thanks so much for the fav Gena. This was a quick pull over the car and shoot photo as we were leaving Newcastle. Glad I spotted it.
@loweygrace Thanks so much Lois. Right place right time.
@lilminimonka Thanks so much Brianna. It is freezing here too today. Rain has gone and the sky is blue but it is blowing a gale.
@quietpurplehaze Thanks so much for the fav Hazel. I just spotted this sunset as we were leaving Newcastle and luckily we found a spot to stop the car to take the photo. Good job I did the washing yesterday, don't think it would stay on the line today, it is blowing a gale.
@scolgs Thanks so much for the fav Sarah and the follow.
@dolphin Thanks so much Molly and for the fav. Lucky shot. About 10 minutes later and it was all gone.
@gamelee Thanks Lee and for the fav. I just spotted this scene as we were in the car leaving Newcastle. The structures on the left are the coal loaders which load the coal from the stockpiles and put it on the conveyor belts to be loaded onto the ships and the structures on the right are the Orica Chemical works I believe.
@macromover Thanks so much for your kind words Jan and for the follow. 365 is a very therapeutic medium for some I believe. My daughter Deb and I started this project at the beginning of 2013 as we both love photography and when Zoe died we both had a really tough time to keep going sometimes, but it really helped and there are so many wonderful people on here who give you inspiration.
@golftragic Only almost Marnie, I must do better next time ha ha. Thanks so much for the fav.
I was so lucky with this shot. We had to go to Newcastle and of course, my camera came with me but I didn't get chance all day to take any photos. Then as we were driving home I spotted the sunset and of course said to David "Stop, stop", in my very angelic voice and being the obedient soul that he is he did and this was one of only 4 photos I took.
@annied Thanks Annie and for the fav. So bloody cold here at the moment isn't it. Somebody has flicked the winter switch. This shot was before the cold spell hit. @cljs Thanks Chris.
@chimfa@kathiecb Thanks. I was lucky with this one as I only took 4 photos that day. We pulled over the car just as we were leaving Newcastle and snap there it was. Thanks for the fav too.
@loweygrace Thanks so much Lois. Right place right time.
@lilminimonka Thanks so much Brianna. It is freezing here too today. Rain has gone and the sky is blue but it is blowing a gale.
