Blue Faced Honey Eater (I know his face is green, read below)
I have had a rather lazy day today. Was going out with the walking group this morning, but woke up with a splitting headache and a touch of gall bladder problems, so stayed home.
We are out tonight though at our regular Trivia Night at the Tavern as I am feeling much better now.
I know this blue faced honey eater has a green face, but that is because he is a juvenile and their faces are green and only turn blue when they are adults.
This chap has been visiting our garden for a couple of weeks.
Thanks everyone who have commented on my last two photos, such an amazing response. Sorry if I haven't replied individually, but I will try and catch up on Saturday. We will be out tomorrow all day. Another busy day.
Excellent detail in the feathers. I was thinking to myself strange name for a green faced bird! Sorry to hear about your gall bladder problems, so painful when it flares up. Had mine whipped out about ten years ago and have never looked back!
sorry for the group reply again, but we are going to see the Archibald Prize exhibition at Maitland Art Gallery this morning and then out for lunch with friends.
@terryliv Super glue is the answer, ha ha. Only kidding. This one is only young and as we have been feeding him for a few days, he has got a bit braver and lets me get closer to take a photo.
Well there you go, i've learnt something new. I didn't know the young ones had green faces. Guess i've not seen a juvenile before to notice. Great capture. :)
