I am posting a bit early tonight because we are out for dinner and then off to the photo club meeting.
I have wanted to take a photo of underneath an electricity pylon for ages and on Sunday when we were at the wetlands I got the opportunity.
I took my life in my hands getting this shot. The pylon was around the back of the wetlands and because of the rain the mozzies were out in force.
The grass was so thick under the pylon I shudder to think what was lurking in there and as I walked under it, I walked through a huge spiders web. Don't you hate that when you hear the crackle of the web on your face and hair. Luckily I didn't spot the spider. I think he was hiding in amongst the struts of the pylon staying dry.
I was so pleased that I managed to get the angle of the pylon right as I pointed the camera upwards.
This is such a great abstract image Babs, I amazed the bottom wasn't fenced in. You could do a number of different edits with this, changing the colour would be great too. Fav
That's a great abstract shot, you did so well to get it perfectly square. Yes, I hate running into webs because I would totally freak out if it was on my face. I ran into a huge golden orb at night once!
Not often you are able to actually walk under one of these which is a pity as it makes for such a great shot. Glad you weren't eaten by tarantulas or deadly snakes in your quest for this! Very effective, love the symmetry.
@bella_ss Thanks Sheralee, Oh I hate running into spiders at night because the damned things are usually in the centre of the web by that time of day too and the webs are like wire Ugh.
@pcoulson Thanks Peter, the things we do for a photo. You can imagine, long grass, spiders, snakes, mozzies etc. Oh how we love Australia. Didn't do my neck any good either, ha ha.
@terryliv I made sure I got rid of the spiders from my hair Terry. As soon as I got back to the Wetlands Centre I made sure I combed my hair vigorously to get out all the sticky web and any stray spiders which may have been lurking in there. ha ha
@sioux Thanks Sue. I don't mind spiders generally, but when you walk through a huge web it is a bit scary as you never know how big its occupant may be.
@eyesmile Thanks Gena. I know, Didn't get badly mozzied though and didn't see any snakes and as far as I know I didn't get bitten by the spider whose web I destroyed, so all is well.
@paulaw Thanks Paula. The pylons out here don't tend to be fenced off so it is easy to walk under them. Apart from the web I walked through, the only other danger was mainly from the millions of mozzies at the wetlands. I have probably got Ross River Virus and Dengue Fever now, ha ha.
@thistle Thanks Joyce, don't know whether it was brave or stupid to venture in there, I had wandered off on my own so if I had been bitten by a snake or a deadly spider I would probably have been doomed, ha ha.
I hate spider face.... Funny how these pylons just call out to you when you have a camera in hand. They made my year one album quite a few times. Nice capture
such an awesome capture
well done
