Friday 'people' day again and today's photo is outside the Great Hall, Montsalvat, which featured on here a couple of days ago.
Trying to get 28 people all looking great and facing the right way for a group photo is a bit like trying to herd cats. I think the lady who was the official photographer for this group wedding photo discovered that too.
We just happened to pass by as this photo was being set up. The couples all arrived at Montsalvat at different times in various cars including two stretch limos. The drivers of the limos had a terrible time trying to get the cars through the narrow gates of the artists' colony and I bet they wished that there was a bendy bit in the middle like those stretch busses you see from time to time. ha ha.
Not sure if all the couples got married as a group or not, but they did separate later and had photos taken individually at various locations around the artist colony. Maybe it was just a case of them all getting married on the same day and arranging for the 14 couples to have their photos taken together.
Out again tonight so won't be able to catch up until tomorrow. Didn't win at trivia last night and the jackpot went to one of our rival groups
A shot that not many people would get a chance to take - as @gigiflower has said, they all have the same gowns and the husbands all have the same suits and ties too by the looks of it. Well seen and a great image.
Funny we all noticed that the girls except one are all in identical dresses.......must be a group wedding I would think....who would want to share their day with thirteen other couples if they could help it.....good for the girl with the straps I say! It does make a fab photo Babs......bet you were glad you were there that day!
Wow what an interesting photo opportunity you stumbled across here Babs, lovely detail captured in the shadows, great colourful image and the brides all look gorgeous:)
What an unusual scene and how fortunately to have captured it. At first I thought it was a large wedding party -- then realizing they were all couples made it all the more intriguing. There has to be a story behind it.
@kwiksilver@taffy Thanks. Montsalvat is a popular place for weddings and wedding photography. Not sure if these are all married couples or if it is a Deb Ball photo. Some of them look too old to be year 12 students though. They all arrived in different cars and just got together for the group photo. I saw some of them later in the day having photos taken at other areas in the colony. Most of the people taking photos in this shot were just passers-by who were at Montsalvat for the day.
Well spotted and captured but how very bizarre. I'm probably in the minority to say that I don't like weddings anyway (all that 'pomp and circumstance' and so emotional) but x 14 seems like a nightmare. You got a great shot, Babs!
@bella_ss Thanks Sheralee. I could only watch for a while, it got a bit frustrating. I am sure there must have been one who had a strange look on their face at the final shot. It was a bit like herding cats, ha ha.
@quietpurplehaze Personally, I'm with you Hazel, I am not a wedding person either. All that expense and the white dress bit isn't really me either. When David and I got married we got married in a registry office and there were 12 people at our wedding and we were two of them. Still together after 45 years, so you don't need a big wedding to be happy. My older sister had the big wedding and I decided then that it wasn't for me.
Glad I didn't offend with what I wrote. We also have been married 45 years this year.
