And the winner is ........

I just love the old fashioned merry go rounds and this one is a fine example. I believe it dates back to 1892 and has been magnificently restored to its original glory.

We have just got home from a get together with some friends, so a bit late posting tonight.

If I haven't thanked you personally for your lovely comments and favs, I apologise, but I do try and catch up when I can.
I'll get in before Denise @gilbertwood
Horace the horse on the merry-go-round
Went up and down, round and round
He's been sad since the day he found
He's the very last horse on the merry-go-round
The music began and away they'd go
High and low, to and fro
Poor old Horace would always say
I'm the very last horse again today . . . . . . . .

Nice shot Babs

@terryliv
I like the rhyme!

I like the shot too which reminds me of Ray and his dad as adults having a ride on a merry go round.

This is a great shot. I love the light from the back. We have a beautiful carousel that is completely hand carved by volunteers. So beautiful. I find it hard to photograph...as it is indoors. This inspires me to go back and try it again. Your composition of this charming merry go round is lovely!

Carousel's always remind me of Mary Poppins when the horses 'escape' and end up in a race. Looks beautifully restored.

@salza thanks Sally. Know what you mean about some horses looking scary. There is one in Sydney too and they look evil. I agree these look so sweet.

@onewing You need to Google the song Babs cause it has a happy ending

. . . . Then came the day on the merry -go-round
Horace turned, looked around,
Said oh gosh oh gee
I'm the very first horse on the merry-go-round
The others are following me.

Wonderful they restored it. So pretty and colourful
April 13th, 2015
@terryliv Thanks Terry, just Googled it and so glad it had a happy ending.
April 13th, 2015
@onewing I have a feeling that old Horace wasn't all that bright :-)
April 13th, 2015
@soniainhk Do you want to join in?
April 13th, 2015
@terryliv ha ha you could be right. If you look at the faces on this photo, their faces look quite sweet, but still a bit threepence short of a shilling.
April 13th, 2015
Aha, I know where this one was shot Babs. Isn't it a beauty?
