Wiggly Worm 2 by onewing

Wiggly Worm 2

Yesterday I posted a photo of the wiggly worms that David photographed.

I now find out that they are called bristle worms and there are hundreds of different varieties.

You couldn't see on yesterday's photo the detail of the bristles, so here is a close up of a section of the worm.

This is just under the water in the shallows at the beach.

Apparently, the bristles can give you a nasty sting if you accidently tread on them.

You can also see what looks like a shell in the picture too, but it is a hermit crabs home.

We have been out at a play in Newcastle this afternoon with friends and we are off out for dinner soon so won't be able to catch up until tomorrow.
how cool - i will keep my eyes open :)

Sorry I have been a bit absent lately, but lots of dramas here at present.
Glad you have enjoyed David's photos of the wiggly worms. I never really noticed much of the wildlife in the ocean until we went on a rock pools walk and talk a few weeks ago. So much to see just under the water. I know this isn't in a rock pool but just goes to show that there is life everywhere. There is a lot of sea grass in this area so that could account for the creatures in the ocean.
