Museum Cafe by onewing

Museum Cafe

I am still wading through some of my Newcastle photos and this one was taken just over a week ago in the museum café when we went to the science exhibition.

I wonder if you can still buy Quibell's sheep dip and Lifebuoy soap and whatever happened to the Bristol Piano Company.
Great find BABs

Don't know about the sheep dip..but I do love the old signs on the old brick walls. Text is often tricky in images..very well integrated here.

Interesting shot. I do like the old and new elements of this photogprah - old signage & modern furniture. Is the museum in some sort of warehouse? I was thinking of those purple hooks that you posted a few days back, plus the doors in this picture remind me of warehouse doors.

Looks like a great café.

@stephanies The museum was originally the railway workshops. The space where the purple hooks (the hooks of the Craven crane) were was originally the locomotive boiler shop and the café was once the blacksmiths and wheel shop. Thanks for asking.

I do like the signs. I wonder if toning down the highlights would make the door frame be in more balance. I do like your composition.

@hermann Quite a lot of things were quite toxic back then weren't they Sally.

@taffy You are right Taffy, I did tone down the highlights a bit, but I am a bit flat out at the moment and really didn't have much time to play with this shot. I will have another look at it when I get chance. It was a very bright and sunny day and the sunlight was just pouring in through the doorway.
