I am posting very early today because we are out this afternoon at a barbeque and our regular wine tasting get together.
I took this photo a couple of weeks ago when we were in Newcastle.
You can see in the foreground the recently demolished railway lines and the remains of Civic Station.
Thanks so much to everyone who commented on my photos over the last couple of days, sorry I haven't been around much on 365 this week. It has been a pretty hectic week.
I have just thought of an added bit of interest to this photo.
Just behind where the car is, there is a secondhand book shop and a friend of the owner of the shop creates the street art. It has changed a few times and here is a link to one of the previous pieces of street art at this location. http://365project.org/onewing/topics/2014-01-05
Always good to take your photos before the wine tasting haha !
Great capture of this super street art. I always think it brightens up what can otherwise be quite drab structures in most instances.
@ethelperry Thanks Ethel. Newcastle has lots of street art and the majority of it has been commissioned. We have a Hit the Bricks festival and street artists are allocated a wall to paint. There are so many fabulous artwork around town.
@dizzyd Yes Helen it was a wise move to post photos before wine tasting. I am usually the driver though so I don't drink much. There are a group of 15 of us who all have a regular get together with a barbeque and wine tasting and we all take along various types of food for the occasion, salads, dips, desserts, etc and the person hosting the event supplies the meat for the barbeque. Next time it is at our house so I will be able to drink more.
@pcoulson Thanks Peter. We have some fabulous street artworks in Newcastle. They come from all over the country to take part in the Hit the Bricks Festival.
@leggzy Thanks, we have a fabulous get together. There are a group of about 15 of us and every couple of months we get together for our regular wine tasting event. We each take along food for the barbeque, ie. dips, cheese and crackers, salads or desserts etc and whoever is hosting the barbeque supplies the meat. We take it in turns to host the wine tasting and next time it is at our house. We sample 8 bottles of wine (4 white and 4 reds) and the bottles are covered so we don't know what they are and we have to guess what type of wine we think it is. ie sav blanc, chardonnay, Verdelho etc. All good fun.
@ivan Unfortunately we can't get closer to this particular artwork at present because as you can see it is fenced off because they are removing the railway lines.
I took this photo from the other side of the railway line through the fence on that side.
