I've found a New Perch Lads

One of our regular kookaburras came to call and perched himself on this garden ornament.

Initially he didn't spot me watching him because he had his eye on a lizard wandering in the flower bed. Luckily the lizard got away.
Sorry, you are too heavy for teddy's neck.

Fancy having kookaburras in your own garden. I love how we get to see how the other half live through 365! All I can think of now is that song about Kookaburra sitting in the old gum tree. But I never before knew what one looked like.

@yaorenliu @jeneurell @deborah63 @ethelperry @nicolecampbell @thistle @pcoulson @paul10 @hermann @happysnaps @gosia @pdulis @zeynab1992 @gilbertwood @jodies @pusspup @cruiser @beryl @tonygig @merrelyn @mittens @seattlite @happypat @chimfa @salza @loweygrace @helenhall Thanks. He is a regular visitor along with the rest of his family. We call this chap Squawk because every time he turns up I say "Which one are you" and he says "Squawk". ha ha. He has a tiny piece out of the end of his beak too so is easy to identify. His Mrs we call Onewing because she has one rather floppy wing. We started feeding them raw mince ages ago and now they visit most days. They have additions to their family too and turn up now with two kids. One we call SOS (son of Squawk) and the other One Eye because he is blind in one eye. I think it was probably pecked by another bird. It does get rather expensive on occasion feeding the whole family, but they are such fun and very tame.

@helenhall Here is a clip to show what they sound like too. They do get quite noisy and it is difficult to hear them laughing without joining in yourself. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UXA0-YAoo9Q

Oh how lovely you have one of these come visit you! Never seen a kookaburra but I remember singing that song about them sitting in the old gum tree when I was in the girl guides.
