I am posting very early today as I am out for lunch shortly and then out again this evening too.
As promised here is version two of the reflection shots I took in Newcastle recently.
I am not sure which I prefer. On reflection (sorry about the pun) I think I prefer yesterdays shot but I do like the brightly coloured ute in the foreground here too.
Haven't seen the other shot Babs, but I do like this one. The bright yellow ute is a great visual counter-balance to the bluey-greens of the rest of the shot.
Hmmmm! It's a tough call. They both have the feel of looking through moving water but this one has a bright shiny ute in it. Both excellent images though ๐
Definitely yesterday's for me : the width of the shot and horizontal expanse of the building, the tall trees echoing the height of the building and I find the colour of the vehicle here intrusive. What's a ute?
Newcastle has some beautiful old buildings. I was hoping to capture them at Christmas time but we have cancelled our trip because my mother in law is having open heart surgery in Canberra.
@quietpurplehaze Thanks Hazel. a ute is short for 'utility' and it is a pickup truck of sorts.
Ford is claimed to be the first company to produce an Australian ute. This was the result of a 1932 letter from the unnamed wife of a farmer in Victoria, Australia asking for โa vehicle to go to church in on a Sunday and which can carry our pigs to market on Mondaysโ. In response, Ford designer Lew Bandt developed the ute and the model called a "coupe utility" at the time was released in 1934.
Thank you & that sounds like a request for a real all-purpose vehicle. I used to work at Ford with a few dyslexic employees so I have a passing interest in their work.
