Friday people day and I thought I would post this photo taken on Wednesday when I was out for our regular ladies lunch.
No, our ladies aren't Red Hat Society ladies but as you can see there were a group of the RHS ladies in he restaurant.
Ladies lunches seems to be a popular pastime here as there were three groups of ladies eating out for lunch that day.
Our group were sitting out on the balcony overlooking the ocean and if you look carefully you can see the reflection of my friend Ina with her painted nails in the picture too.
I quite liked the arty effect of this shot.
Posting a bit early today because we are out for dinner this evening with friends.
I have done very well this week to avoid cooking. Out on Wednesday, out for lunch on Thursday, out this evening for dinner and out tomorrow for dinner at a 50th Wedding Anniversary party.
Babs - how wonderful that it is your Golden Anniversary, my sincere congratulations to you both.. Wishing you many more happy years together
Love the overlapping images.. the red hats are matched by the red nail polish too - yes, an 'arty' shot.. 'Ladies of a certain age' know how to enjoy life and lunching with friends has to be near the top of the list..
i'm out for lunch today too, but we don't wear hats - taking camera and tripod to go photo hunting afterwards :-)
Lovely capture and very interesting information. The Red Head Society seems very interesting, too.You seem to be living like a princess - with waiters serving you lunches and dinners.
What a wonderful image Babs I also think its arty like the interesting double image effect inside and out, I'm relieved that I checked the web page of The Red Hatters, I had completely the wrong idea of what it was all about, could only think of the old saying over here "red hat no dr***, lol:)
@jorlam It isn't our Golden wedding anniversary, it is friends of ours who the party is for. David and I are youngsters, we have only been married 47 years.
The red hat ladies who were at the same restaurant dress up and go out once a month together for a meal apparently, just like our group do. We just wear civvies though.
@pcoulson Ha ha, not heard that saying. I think the one I knew about was 'all fur coat and no knickers'.
I didn't check out the red hat ladies too closely to see if the saying you mentioned was true.
It's like a double exposure shot Babs. Never heard of a red hat society, so, off to google I went.. and I found in the UK are called Red Hatters and they have a London branch.....hmm.... I might need to purchase a red hat!
So much fun - I once bumped into the Red Hatters at a gardens near me, all red hats and purple clothes. They said younger people could join but they had to wear lavender and pink. When I told them my age, they said "oh you have to wear the red and purple then!!"
You ladies in Australia do have a great time! I would take to being a lady what lunches very well thank you! Not sure about the RHS but I'll come with you! I like the reflections!
@megpicatilly No they always wear the red and purple. They are a society worldwide.

Not so sure I could dress up like this though, I just like to go out with friends and not get noticed.
@stephanies Thanks Stephanie, The Red Hat Society are worldwide. I have seen quite a few groups of these ladies around. I believe they sometimes go out on bus trips if they are part of a bigger group.

@casablanca Ha ha, love your story. I would be well in age-wise with the society, but I just like to go out and not get myself noticed. I prefer to notice other people and photograph them.
@happypat I am not sure about the RHS either, I just like to go out with our ladies group and photograph other people.
You would be more than welcome to join our little group of friends Pat. We have a great time. We do see each other during the month, but don't manage to get all of us together at one time so we try to all meet up as a group once a month.
I had to update you on this Babs, I found a London group called the Red hatters, BUT, they require you to be over 60 AND not only do you have to wear a red hat on their trips out, but you also have to wear mauve or red clothing too... Shame really, the hat I could do, but those colours on me are a huge no-no.
