This week is NAIDOC (National Aboriginal and Islander Day Observance Committee) Week, so I thought I would post a couple of pictures of Aboriginal Art today and tomorrow.
NAIDOC is an Australian observance lasting from the first Sunday in July until the following Sunday. NAIDOC Week celebrates the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
At our local adult education site there is a community garden. The gardeners keep all their equipment in this large shipping container and it has been decorated by local Warrimay people.
The sign on the container says 'This garden is on Worimi Land under the care of local Warrimay people, who speak the Gathang Language. The name, Djagil Girranggu means 'Food for life'
Many local native food plants can be found in this garden.
Here you see one side of the container and tomorrow I will post another shot taken from a different angle.
The hospital phoned today and postponed my surgery scheduled for tomorrow until a later date because they had a few emergencies, so now I have to wait until I get a new date. A bit of a bugger in one way, but I have an awful cold at the moment so maybe it is best that my surgery has been put off for now.
These postponements are a nuisance aren't they , but perhaps for the best if you have a cold at the moment - just get well soon so to be fit to face your surgery ! A nice colourful image for today !
Love aboriginal art, so colourful. Probably is a good plan to wait if you have a cold. Always shocking for the body to have surgery of any sort. Wishing you speedily well again and hope your date is not too far ahead. Lots of love.
What a colourful container stands out with its vibrant colours and traditional patterns, lovely spot and capture Babs, we have a little Aboriginal art and artifacts in our home we just love the Brilliant colours and intricate patterns:)
@dorsethelen@beryl@casablanca My surgery wasn't urgent so not to drastic about having to wait longer. Just have to put up with a lot of discomfort until the problem is fixed. Better to deal with emergency cases first.
I am feeling a bit better tonight. Had a splitting headache all day and a sore throat, but has eased now. Ice cream always helps. ha ha.
It is so interesting to see the Aboriginal art. It is nice that they have a time to celebrate the NAIDOC. It is good to keep history alive. I do hope you get over your nasty cold soon and that you get your surgery rescheduled soon too. It is bad to have to wait on something like that.
I love this colorful and decorative art. I think I draw a lot like it when I doodle but I know I do not have a drop of Australian blood in me so who knows where it comes from! Good shot.
Sorry to hear of the delay for your surgery, but if you've got a cold it's probably for the best for you. Anaesthetics are tough enough on the body without a cold. Love the colours in this shot, livens up a dull day.
You are having a bit of a time of it with hospitals. Hope all is sorted out soon for you. the container is brilliant (in more than one sense) cant think of a better thing to do with a shipping container than this.
Your write-up was most interesting, and the art work on this container is so nice and colourful. I am sorry about your surgery being cancelled and that you are not feeling all that well either. I really hope you feel better soon Babs and they are able to reschedule the appointment quickly for you.
Great opportunity for me to see Aboriginal art - we don't see a lot over here I'm afraid. Love those colours - they must be really vibrant in the sunshine!
Hope you feel better soon.

Yes, best to wait until you are better for your surgery.
for me, Aboriginal art is always so colourful and mesmerising.. it is so terribly intricate too..
Don't think the surgery would have gone ahead with your cold.. much better when you are up to strength.
take it easy and drink plenty ha ha..
Hope you don't wait to long for your surgery! :)
I am sure that it was for the best that my surgery was postponed while I had a cold and I am feeling much better today, but I really wanted to get this particular procedure over with because I have to have further surgery following this one. It is just prolonging the agony so to speak. I think I will be glad when this year is over, we have had lots to deal with not only in our family, but also with other friends deaths and illnesses too.
