Today is Remembrance Day. It marks the day World War One ended, at 11am on the 11th day of the 11th month, back in 1918. A two-minute silence is held at 11am to remember the people who have died in wars.
So sweet. We used to buy red poppies to pin on our blouse but I donβt see them any more. So today is our Veterans Day as well. An important day for all of us to remember the men and women who served in our military.
Three lovely artworks (my preference on the right). The armistice was the end of the actual fighting. It took another six months of negotiations to get to the peace treaty and end of the war. Lets also remember those who negotiate and try to bring peaceful resolutions.
The red poppy - a touching symbol for the unutterable horror of one of the darkest events in human history.
