Renovator's Dream by onewing

Renovator's Dream

Yesterday's photo taken at Morpeth was of a quaint little cottage,. As you can see this one isn't quite so quaint, well not yet at least.

The roof has been repaired and the rest of the cottage is a work in progress. I will have to go back in a few months time to see what the new owners have done with it. I am sure it will look really pretty when it is finished. At least it is still standing. It was probably built in the 1800s when the village of Morpeth was established.
bulldozer methinks :)

Someone must have seen something worth saving.

@annied Not ready for the bulldozer yet. somebody has obviously bought it and the roof has been repaired, so that is a start.

must be worth it if the roof has been done...we'll watch with interest

@onewing hmmm wishful thinking?

It'll probably look good when it's done. That roof doesn't look cheap!

Looks like it needs a lot of TLC, will be interesting to see the 'after' photo!

I think this will look fabulous when it’s finished

Nice to see someone's going to be living here again but looks like a big job to make it look good. Would be interested to see the finished result.

Looks ok to me, apart from the immediate need for some outdoor painting.

at least it is being 'saved'

Great find- seen worse😛

Great capture and so interesting looking. You'll have to show us a picture of it after it is fixed up.

I don't think that I would be brave enough to tackle that project!

Really look forward to seeing it finished. Hard work but really worth it in the end. Our first house was 2 derelict cottages then we knocked them into one. There was no water, electric etc. so gutted them completely. Only 3 walls standing at one point. Was a wonderful experience - but we were young and it was our first house. I did think when I first saw them what on earth but so glad to be persuaded by my then fiancee!

Going to cost an arm and a leg maybe!

So much work to do there, but so rewarding in the end. The original build date has quite amazed me.
November 25th, 2017
I'm sure it will look beautiful when it's finished :)

Great shot...It definitely needs some tlc.
November 25th, 2017
Will be worth it in the end! You must show us an after shot!
November 25th, 2017
Nice to see it being restored

The roof looks great, you can see how good it's going to look at the end. Roof is most important & now the rest can follow. Great work in progress!

Great job to do. Love to see when it`s finish.
November 25th, 2017
There is no way I would take this on, but kudos to the renovators :)
November 25th, 2017
@peadar Probably between $6000 and $10,000 for a colorbond roof.

@mandygravil How exciting, have you ever been back to take a photo of the house now? Did you get a before and after shot too?
November 25th, 2017
A lot of work for someone, but I’m sure it can look good again.
November 26th, 2017
A definite fixer-upper I'd reckon. Lotta work needed there.
November 26th, 2017
Hope they restore it to its former glory. Pretty old house.
November 26th, 2017
Looking forward to seeing what this turns into!
November 26th, 2017
Lovely to see before renovation....this will look great after...

@onewing Funnily enough - we still live int he same village. I took loads of photos when we were working and still have the albums. I did think of giving them to go with the deeds of the house but they were too personal to us to give to someone else. Perhaps when we are really old. It has had a few owners since us and does;t look quite what it did. I did say that if we ever had lots of money then I would buy it back but time has past too much now and it has changed a lot. Also I don;t have that big pot of money unfortunately. :)

I bet it will look brilliant when it's finished.
November 26th, 2017
Oh dear, this one needs some love
November 27th, 2017
It looks like they have good intentions for it. I think you are right- when it's done, it will be a beauty.
