Sorry I am a bit absent from 365 at the moment, but we have a busy few days ahead. I will catch up when I can.
Thanks so much for your comments on the photos taken at Port Waratah over the last few days.
Last week I posted a photo of a 2 metre (7 ft) lace monitor lizard spotted while out with our walking group. Here is a close up of the male monitor. Check out the size of his claws.
I just love spotting these creatures in the wild and glad they aren't aggressive.
Mama Mia, those claws! Let's hope he never needs to pick his nose or he'd rupture a blood vessel or three!! Fabulous creature. I love the way he seems to have noticed you sideways on
@casablanca He is beautiful isn't he. There were a few of us taking photos of him so he was keeping very still. It is lovely to have eye contact with such a magnificent creature.
@happypat He is quite harmless if you are bigger than him, but you are not so safe if you are a bird, small mammal, insect or reptile. They also clean up the road kill too so quite useful.
@susie1205 @thistle @thistle @julienne1 @beryl @carole_sandford @mave @sangwann @paul10 Luckily they aren't aggressive and by the look of his belly he had just had quite a feed so I knew I was safe and he didn't see me as lunch.

@777margo @gilbertwood @cruiser @pusspup We are so lucky in Australia to have such magnificent creatures in the wild aren't we.
Fav.
I think he was rather laid back Hazel, by the size of his belly I think he must have just eaten a bird or some reptile, he was probably not hungry enough to tackle me. ha ha.
