Box Beach Bushfire by onewing

Box Beach Bushfire

A few days ago I went to Box Beach at Shoal Bay to see the aftermath of the bushfire. This particular fire didn't do as much damage as the Salt Ash one, but it was still pretty devastating.

Great starkness and reality of the fires. Looks great on black.

It looks so bleak, With temperature gradually rising, it is a worry that more and more fire occurs.

Speaks volumes.
August 27th, 2018
it is devastating but hopefully - as our Aussie bush does - it will regenerate with renewed vigour

Does the fire replenish life?? Such great light and angles
August 27th, 2018
Ooh , such devastation , not only to the plantation but also the wild life ! A lovely image with its sparse look and the light causing eerie shadows !
August 27th, 2018
Always devastating to see the aftermath of a bushfire.
August 27th, 2018
Happens so often round the world but nature comes again!
August 27th, 2018
@30pics4jackiesdiamond yes it won't take long to regenerate
August 27th, 2018
I hate to think about all the poor critters who suffer with these fires :)
August 27th, 2018
@yaorenliu @maggiemae @hermann The saddest part of all is that it was probably deliberately lit. This is a popular haunt for hoons along with the Salt Ash area where our other recent bushfire was.
August 27th, 2018
Such devastation and loss of animal lives and habitat.
August 27th, 2018
But it won't take long for this to all grow back up.
August 27th, 2018
@dide Indeed, the bushland will regenerate, but the wildlife and food for the wildlife won't, at least not for a while.

@sailingmusic Indeed it will grow back, but the wildlife won't be so lucky.

Hope this area recovers over the next year.
August 27th, 2018
Very bleak. great shot
August 27th, 2018
It's devastating to have bushfires so early. I can't understand how anyone could deliberately set the bush on fir, even more so when it's been so dry :(
August 27th, 2018
Crying for the loss of so many trees. What a sad sight!
August 27th, 2018
Oh dear, that is sad to see.
August 27th, 2018
Great shot. Sorry to see this devastation, especially knowing that it probably was lit by someone. Hope the area recovers quickly.
August 27th, 2018
at least fires are somewhat healthy for forests in the grand scheme of things.
August 27th, 2018
oh how sad
August 27th, 2018
Such a sorry state!
August 27th, 2018
A sorry scene.
August 27th, 2018
It’s so sad to see the damage
August 27th, 2018
An unpleasant sight. All hope in rebirth ... it will rise from the ash!
August 27th, 2018
Wow! So sad. It will be interesting to see what it looks like in a year's time if you take a photo from the same spot.
August 27th, 2018
How sad Babs, all those lovely trees & the wild life lost their homes & lives. So many fires this year, we have had quite a few too.
August 27th, 2018
Oh how sad!
August 27th, 2018
Sad capture.
August 27th, 2018
Gosh- devastated land
August 27th, 2018
Interesting image, hope it recovers soon.
August 27th, 2018
Wow...Fires are so destructive.
August 27th, 2018
Oh my. So much destruction. Will these trees come back? or just have to be replaced.
August 27th, 2018
So sad looking and so sorry. Gladly nature recover from this rapidly.
August 27th, 2018
Wow... I hope it can grow back.

It is sad to see especially as it was probably deliberately lit, but it won't take long for it to recover. I will go back regularly to take photos to show you its progress. A friend has a house that backs on to this particular area of bushland and it was pretty scary for him while the fire was raging. Luckily no houses were lost in this fire.

I remember how awful it was when Mt. St. Helens erupted so many years ago. The landscape was so barren you could pass it off as the moon. Scientists were convinced that it would never grow back or be the same again. Within a month signs of life began to appear. Nature has amazing restitution. I hope that the bush will recover quickly enough that the animals and birds don't perish while they're waiting. Thank goodness for your friend's home too. Good shot- it really shows how devastating fire can be.
August 28th, 2018
Appears to be devastating but nature has a wonderful way of bouncing back. So pleased to hear your friend is ok
August 28th, 2018

August 28th, 2018

August 28th, 2018

August 28th, 2018
