Keep fit class this morning and medical appointment this afternoon to have my annual injections.
On the way back to my car I passed Red Neds gourmet pie shop. Outside the shop is this model of Ned Kelly the famous Australian bushranger.
You can see on the sign a selection of the pies available at the shop. I must admit I have never tried them because I am not really a pie person, but I believe they are very good.
Apart from the selection of pies shown here, some of their specialities are ostrich with coconut cream, sundried tomato and parmesan and crocodile, parsley, shallots in white wine sauce. Does anyone fancy any of those.
Omigosh; this would surely turn me off trying those pies, especially with that gun pointed right at me! Nevertheless, they do sound interesting, although 'ostrich with coconut cream'???
Well I have now read up about your folk legend - there is not much that endears me to him - is he a symbol for the oppressed - like Robin Hood - whose status over here is questionable? As for the pies, Im not sure I fancy any of the ones mentioned although I would be prepared to give them a try.
@helenhall No Ned Kelly wasn't a symbol of the oppressed, he was in fact the oppressor. He was just a thug and a murderer in my opinion.

I may have to see if David would be willing to give one of the pies a try and have a taste of it myself.
@helenhall@onewing I have to say that when I was at uni (years ago) I made a name for myself as being a bit of an expert on Ned Kelly. My topic was whether he was a hero or a villain and, yes, I came down on the side of you, Babs, after extensive research. He was a murderer and a thug but he had that charisma that endeared him to some of the locals and ensured his name would live on.
Oh my. Very interesting to learn of Ned's history. I think I would have to pass on any of the items on the menu though. Is this a popular spot with the locals?
I thought the pharmacy guy might be moonlighting in his spare time! Changing one mask for another nobody would recognise him! There was a great pie shop near where our granddaughter lives in South Island. We called on our way back from the southern Amos, such different flavours there too, I'm not a pie person, the pasty gives me heartburn!
For me there's nothing better than a good pie so just as well I don't live near Red Ned's. Totally agree with you re Ned though, everything you say, plus being a cop killer.
Ok- so now I know who Ned Kelly is- not a great role model- nor someone you'd actually name a restaurant after in mho! And I'm not sure my stomach would survive some of those pie options (unless I wasn't told what was in it before I ate it!). I think I'll stick with the American version- chicken pot pie! (Maybe the chili crab one might work but definitely not the crocodile!) Good shot.
@olivetreeann I am not a pie person normally and I wouldn't be tempted to try some of them in this pie shop.
I guess Jesse James would be of a similar ilk.
