I took so many photos at the recent Victoriana Steampunk Festival that I would need a month to complete the images. I thought I would reduce that time slightly and post collages for the next few days.
I love the chap in the top right image and his costume. Luckily it wasn't too hot that day otherwise he would have been melting.
You ever thought of getting yourself up in a steampunk outfit, Babs? It does look brilliant fun but I have never seen it and like @30pics4jackiesdiamond I don't really understand it.
Brilliant collage Babs full of extrovert characters in very interesting costumes:) @30pics4jackiesdiamond@casablanca Steampunk, started out as a science-fiction sub-genre in the 1970s. Its fundamental inspirations go all the way back to 19th century Victorian writers, such as Jules Verne (author of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea) and H.G. Wells (author of The Time Machine).
Steampunk fashion is a mixture of the Victorian era's romantic view of science in literature and elements from the Industrial Revolution in Europe during the 1800s consists of clothing, hairstyling, jewelry, body modification and make-up, hope the above helps explains this sub culture, I don't mind photographing them but would not dress up like they do:)
@pcoulson That is a really helpful explanation, thanks so much! Love the sci fi of that era, some of my favourite books. Feel like I understand what I am looking at better now. Thank you
@quietpurplehaze I could just see you in the purple outfit Hazel. The girl in the bottom left picture really made me think of Zoe. It quite upset me taking this photo. Zoe would have made a perfect Steampunker.
@casablanca I was just about to explain Steampunk but see that Peter has done a great job of explaining it. No I have never thought of dressing up in a steampunk outfit, but it would have suited my daughter Zoe down to the ground. The girl in the bottom left picture brought Zoe to mind, quite upsetting really. I didn't see that one coming.
You and Jackie must go to a festival, they are brilliant. It strikes me that it is a rather expensive pastime. There were stalls at the festival where you could buy accessories and you needed a fat wallet.

@cutekitty I love the Steampunk era too.

Babs, I can imagine how upsetting it was for you to take that photo and thinking of Zoe. Sending a virtual hug, wish I could do more.
