Municipal Library

Here is the last of the electricity junction box photos for now. Next time I am in Newcastle I will try and find some more.

As you can see this one is damaged slightly but if you look carefully you will see a little mouse lying on the steps.
This is so cute too, the little mouse could not make it all the way. Great find and shot, loved the little series.

@ludwigsdiana You probably can't see it clearly but he has a book in his hand, so maybe he fell asleep reading his book.

Wonderful...whoever designed these has a wonderful sense of humour.

I couldn’t help hoping that the mouse was not electrocuted....

Next time I have a free day I will have to wander around Newcastle and see how many more painted junction boxes I can find.

@quietpurplehaze I think the little mouse is perfectly safe, he is just reading his book.

Love these junction boxes... so much better than a simple grey one :)
June 12th, 2019
@happypat In the olden days electricity wires were overhead but now they are all underground and each box is where the cables run from the underground feed and is the junction box that supplies about half a dozen properties. If they have to cut the electricity to any particular property at any time it is easier to cut it at the junction box rather than dig a great hole in the ground to find the cable that feeds each house.
