No photos today because I went to my keep fit class this morning and then out for a belated birthday lunch with some girlie friends.
I thought I would post another photo of Hinton Bridge following on from yesterday's shot of the underside of the same bridge.
Hinton Bridge is an Allan timber truss road bridge and it is one of only three lift bridges in the Hunter region, which in the past accommodated river steamers that travelled the Hunter River system. It was built in 1900.
Is that a hydraulic lit system then that raises the middle section to let the steamers through? A great bridge design and very attractively shot with equal interest in the reflection and the bridge itself.
@haskar Not sure if it is still operational but there was a lot of work done on it a while ago.
The weather has gone quite chilly and windy today and I gather it will carry on like this for a couple more days. Glad it is almost the end of winter.
Luckily I have got a quiet weekend so should be able to catch up on your photos then.
@maggiemae I agree, it does look like Meccano.
