Regal Cinema by onewing

Regal Cinema

Over the next few days I will be filling some gaps I missed earlier this year before Covid-19, no need to comment.

This was one of the last times we were out socially. On the 23 February I visited the Regal Cinema at Birmingham Gardens with friends for the first time and what an experience it was.

At a cost of $8 you not only watch the movie you also can have tea, coffee or sherry plus a variety of nibbles that vary with each performance.

As you can imagine you have to book because it is very popular.

The owners restored the old cinema and with a group of volunteers have made it into a wonderful movie experience.

The Regal closed during March for the foreseeable future and I can't wait for it to open again.
Sounds like fun

So strange these days to see people standing so close to each other

Not quite what I expected of the Regal (resembling, or fit for a monarch, especially in being magnificent or dignified) cinema Babs, but in saying that it sounds like a great place to watch a movie, I like the sound of the refreshments much grander tha Kia-ora and butterkist popcorn:)

A great deal. How strange it all seems now.

Sad that this looks so weird to me now

Very interesting! I looks very small for a cinema, but would love to visit! Only problems are that it is not open and I live to far out ;)

That’s a real treat of a cinema Babs! A real community place where all can enjoy. We have a similar one in Longridge family run. There is also The Starlight cinema in Taupo ...a family run picture house.

@bkbinthecity It is lots of fun.

@jgpittenger Indeed, it will feel strange when we are able to stand closer together again.

@pcoulson It is a fun cinema and the refreshments fit the movie showing. When they showed Ab Fab the movie they served nibbles and champagne. There was an Italian movie once where they served pizza too.

@dide @blueberry1222 Yes, it feels like a world away now doesn't it.

@ingrid01 It is a quaint little cinema and it only seats 125 people but it is very popular, or at least it was very popular before lockdown.

@happypat It is a real step back in time cinema.
