Still Flying the Flag by onewing

Still Flying the Flag

This photo follows on from yesterday's 'Round the Headland' collage.

As I walked around the headland I looked back across the bay and got a clearer photo of the two blue weekender shacks. They are the only two original shacks that are still standing on this stretch of the waterfront.

The huge properties towering over the shacks have become the new 'weekenders' and most of the new properties are only occupied at weekend and holidays. The owners probably live in Sydney and travel the two hours or so up here just for holidays.

The little blue fishing shack is still flying the flag and standing proud.
Love the little blue shack. The same is true here around Lake Michigan-huge homes used rarely.

Great capture

Fabulous shot across the bay. If the price were right, I am sure it will not sty there forever ;-)

yeah that is what I remember as holiday houses from childhood, not the monstrosities surrounding that lovely old bluey

Seeing your world is so good for me - so different and there is good focus and story!

More beautiful houses there!

Love the little blue shack...My G.Father had a holiday shack at a "then" little beach called Wellington Pt. where we had wonderful holidays as kids & we slept on mattresses on the floor & cooked our meals on a two burner stove. Now, it is a "popular" place for holiday apartments etc.

Hang in there, Little Blue!

Great show of defiance long may they continue its a heart warming story and image Babs:)

They are dwarfed by the other building. Let’s hope that they stay.
December 13th, 2020
wow those other buildings are mad for a weekender!

It took me some time to find the flag but I did in the end. The new buildings are beautiful and modern but they spoil a bit the natural ambience that was enjoyed previously. But you cannot hold back progress, if you can call it that.

Ah look at that flag there, waving away! Always enjoy a waterside scene

I thought I remembers that blue shack from yesterday. Love the original old buildings, too bad, they are disappearing.

I still prefer the little blue shack to the modern replacements.

Lovely shot.

What a lovely weekend/vacation shot - well captured.
December 13th, 2020
Wow! This angle is easier to see the huge difference in size between buildings!
December 13th, 2020
The contrast between the little blue shack & the modern holiday homes behind is remarkable but that little blue shack is worth a fortune!
December 13th, 2020
They so small against the jumble of buildings behind them
December 13th, 2020
wow, that little house looks like a miniature close to those buildings
December 13th, 2020
This makes a great contrast to the shot I just finish commenting about homeless tents in the city.
December 13th, 2020
I still like it the best!!

A super capture

Lovely little blue shack
December 13th, 2020
So small against the vast new constructions!
December 13th, 2020
Good shot
December 13th, 2020
Not a fan of the new ones

This happen to our coast to. Now we try to limmit those houses. Great shot of this ones.

The "shack" is so cute! Love its colour.

@edorreandresen @bkbinthecity @ludwigsdiana @koalagardens @katford @maggiemae @jamibann @aikiuser @pcoulson @wakelys @pusspup @sangwann @casablanca @dutchothotmailcom @fishers @mittens @linnypinny @loweygrace @happypat @thistle01 @santina @yaorenliu @craftymeg @carolmw @ziggy77 @carole_sandford @mave @jernst1779 @pyrrhula @kwind Thanks. I am sure the little blue shacks will disappear one day and will be knocked over to build a new house. The land alone here will probably fetch around 1 million dollars. @happysnaps I remember going to Wellington Point about 30 years ago, I am sure it has changed now just like this area has.

Goodness me, how tiny it looks from this angle! The colour and the flag really make it special
December 14th, 2020
Wow- this shot really shows how ostentacious and over the top those new "weekend" shacks have become!
