I had to have a Covid test this morning because I have been exposed to a positive Covid case, so have to stay home until I get a negative test result.
I took this photo a while ago and forgot to post it, so as I am stuck at home I thought I would post it today.
Don't have any symptoms and don't think I have Covid but still had to have the test just in case.
Cases have soared in our region since a chap who lived in Sydney tested positive just over a week ago and was told to isolate. Apparently he didn't and drove to Newcastle, went to a nightclub last weekend where there were 700 people. About half of the people at the nightclub have now tested positive and some live in our area so cases have risen here too.
I got a text saying I had been exposed to the virus as a casual contact at three locations in our shopping centre which is why I have had to be tested.
I heard that the chap who started the latest cases has been fined $10,000 for not isolating while infectious.
I was tested positive on Monday although I have been so careful and never really went anywhere, not even shopping. Last week we were invited to a goodbye lunch for a friend who was returning to England.
He had his negative test, but a lady friend had a bad cold. She said she went to the doctor and got some meds. Hard to believe, but a few days later I developed cold symptoms. By the weekend I was feeling so bad that Harry took me to the doctor on Sunday. He immediately said it sounded like covid and I need to get tested.
The friend has still not been tested as she thinks it is just a cold! How irresponsible can her doctor be! She is the only person I have been in contact with for a long time. It does make me rather angry to say the least.
@ludwigsdiana Oh no, I do hope your symptoms are slight. I can't believe how irresponsible people are. All restrictions have eased here since Wednesday and no QR code checking or vaccine checking, no masks etc. I am all for things easing but at least do responsibly. It was only because they still had QR codes in the shops I went in on Monday that I got the text message. Now we won't be able to have that advantage. Ugh makes my blood boil.
@kjarn Yes I agree, I thought I bet he won't pay the fine either. They should just lock them up for a few weeks instead of fining them that should do the trick. Lock them all locked up together.
take care Babs - isolating is so responsible. @ludwigsdiana please take heaps of care of yourself, treat yourself like you would treat your best friend now and heal up
@onewing Such a pretty still life. I hope your test comes back negative. @ludwigsdiana How frustrating for you when you've been so careful. I hope you're not feeling too sick. Take care.
Fingers crossed for a negative result Babs. I'm dreading our "opening up" in February. I think that a lot of people in WA have become quite complacent because we haven't had covid in the community. I fear that won't last once the borders are opened. @ludwigsdiana Oh Diana I'm so sorry to hear of your positive test. Please take care of yourself.
Sorry to hear that you are having to isolate, I hope you turn out to be Covid-19 free. How irresponsible of people not to isolate when told to do so, and I'm so pleased the man from Sidney has received a huge fine. Your photo is lovely!
Oh dear Babs thatās a painā¦.some people are so very selfish. That guy should be ashamed of himselfā¦.hope they make sure he pays up! When I had covid I had a very runny nose & lots of sneezing so can quite understand you would think it a cold but these arenāt normal times & every feeing of not being well should ring alarm bells.
Omicron is rife in the UK now but thankfully up to now it seems to be a milder form although the scientists are all gloom & doom & we have working from home again& lots of cancellationsā¦it will be another financial blow to millions if businesses.
Hope you test negativeā¦itās scary when you get a positive resultā¦my son in law is five days into a positive test & has had a slight headache but very tired but much better today.
Beautiful shot. Here's hoping you are negative. My son tested positive a couple of weeks ago. We have no idea where he got it from. The rest of the family was fine.

The only reason I found out I had been at 3 shops on Monday aBy Wednesday the QR coding has stopped and we no longer have to sign in to shops. Also restrictions on wearing masks have eased and we no longer have to wear them either since Wednesday. I still wear a mask when I am out and would much prefer the QR coding to remain. Our Government has been so stupid to ease restrictions so much. It is just a free for all now and cases will rise drastically over the Christmas period especially as we live in a tourist area and we are allowing overseas visitors back into Australia. Plus borders are open again and people will be visiting relatives interstate. I can't help feeling it is all going to end in tears for many.

It wouldn't matter if they fined him 10 million or $10, I bet he won't pay it, apparently only 4% of Covid related fines have been paid.
