Train Indicator Boards by onewing

Train Indicator Boards

As Newcastle Railway Station will be closing, probably at the end of the year, I hope these indicator boards don't end up in a skip and that they go to a museum.

I suspect that these are the original boards from when the station first opened.

They had ones like these at Broadmeadow Station which is a few stops along the line, but the last time we were at that station I saw that they have been replaced with utterly boring electronic gadgets now. They look dreadful too and no where near the character that these have. Nothing stays the same.

They look pretty cool, and straight forward... will replace them with something that is confusing to understand

I cannot believe that the railway station will be closed, no foresight really. But what a nice find and lets hope they end up in a museum if the inevitable happens :-)

Oh those are brilliant! Nice shot to keep for posterity in case they do end up in a skip!

@annied Maybe not send an email Annie, because you know who would buy them. ha ha. As you know I think we have got enough junk.

An interesting shot -- shame about the demise of the railway station ! These item should definitely preserved in a museum as part of the social history of Newcastle (Aust.)

Rather old fashioned I suppose in this day & age but all the better for it to my thinking! You want to get your name on them Babs...ask!

Amazing they still have them. Perhaps you should check out what's happening to them in advance!

Keep an eye out for the skip Babs, salvage may be a possibility. I'm sure your other half would find a home for them. Great that you've recorded these relics.

@golftragic I am sure David would find a home for them. That is the worrying bit, where on earth would we put them.

@julzmaioro @hermann @sioux @beryl @onlyme111 @888rachel @darthkitty @creampuff @newbank @happypat @dolphin @chimfa @eyesmile @tabarlett @ibt Thanks so much. Next time I am in Newcastle I will ask what is to become of them. There is a museum at Honeysuckle just down the road from the station and maybe they will end up there.

@onewing The family of my daughter's first boyfriend were train nuts, and had a whole signal set-up in their front garden. Beware!!
