The early morning view of Lundy Island this morning was the clearest we have seen since we have been here. For days at a time the island disappeared into the mist and we had been here about a week before our first view of it. The island is 12 miles off the Devon coast. You can see here the lighthouse on the top and the church with a small cluster of houses. You can visit Lundy on a day trip in the summer (maybe not at the moment) going on a boat trip from Bideford or you can go by Helicopter from Hartland Point. There is a 3 hour clockwise walk around the island seeing the wonderful wildlife but they recommend taking 6 hours to really see it properly. You can stay on the island in the hotel - anyone tempted? It must be very bleak in winter!!
@casablanca The wildlife is said to be fantastic - puffins and many other sea birds and also the sea life around the island. Now wouldn't that be a fun place to have a 365 meet up!! LOL!!
I would love to stay on the island, so long as I could be assured of no storms, dreadfully exposed up there. On the other hand, it would be worth it for the wild life. I have been to Skomer and Farne to watch Puffins but would love to add Lundy to the list.
