There are not many old red phone boxes left now and even the new kind of phone boxes are disapearing as more people have mobile phones. I went out this morning in search of an old red box as this is the kind of phone I can remember using when I was young. I found this one in the village of Mears Ashby.
Can you remember the last time you actually made a call from a telephone box? I can't and I also can't remember phone numbers any more as they are all listed in my Iphone. How we rely on technology these days!!
Excellent for todays word. We have one in the main street, but not sure if there are any others around.....bit like you, can't even remember the last time I used a public phone!
Public phones are definitely becoming a rarity. Some of the ones we still have around need a 'phone card' for use. The phone card is like a credit card that you insert into a slot on the phone. Not sure if you can even make an emergency call without a valid card!
You're right, I can't remember the last time I used a call box. And the only numbers I can remember are my Dad's and my husband's mobile....the rest, like you I rely on my iPhone.
We have one in our village and if it is sold off we would like to buy it. Some villages are using them as libraries or even mini pubs!!! The mind boggles.
