This is a shot I took a couple of years ago. The farmer normally plants yellow rape seed but for some reason two whole fields were poppies. I was told it was a mistake in the delivery of the seed but whatever it was the farmer decided to leave the two fields for the summer. A spectacular sight and I love this shot particularly for today - Remembrance Sunday - A field of red - Lest We Forget.
Please look at this large against the black if you have time.
!2/11 Wow this is still on PP!! Thank you all so much for your great comments and Favs!!
@jetpics Thanks Janette. We also commemorate tomorrow on Remembrance Day when there is a minutes silence at 11am. Today is the Sunday when they have a big service at the Cenotaph in London and the Queen and others lay wreaths in remembrance and all the armed forces march past. A very moving service!! I misread the topic for today and thought it was Poppy. I will find another poppy shot for tomorrow.
Lovely shot and story. Glad you took and reposted. Kind of a mixed bag in Canada. National services are on the 11th, local commemorations can be the 11th or the Sunday prior. I know there are some parades today. Remember.
November 11th is Veteran's Day in the USA. Interesting how there are holidays with a similar theme around the world. The color in this photo is magnificent. I like the slight separation between layers.
