The weather today was awful with very high winds and heavy rain this morning. There was a lull this afternoon so I popped out and drove around the local villages in search of something to practice my HDR on. This is the village church in Mears Ashby. I am thrilled that I have discovered HDR during my 365 - still lots to learn but great fun!!
One more shot to go!! WOW!!
Many thanks for all your great comments on my Near Miss shot - I always enjoy reading your comments!!
hdr IS perfect for buildings to bring out all the detail and when skies are a bit grey..... I like your pov here and the path leading you up through the photo!
You are using HDR so effectively!! What a peaceful scene. After I post today, I too have only one day to go! And the weather has not cooperated for my original plan, so I'm busily thinking of a new direction to go. I can't believe how fast this year has flown, can you??
@taffy Thank you so much Taffy I really appreciate your comments and support!! Where has the year gone? So much fun and enjoyment and making wonderful friends plus doing what I love - taking photos!! I just can't make up my mind what to do for my last shot. I wanted something really good but I am struggling for inspiration!! So glad you will be staying on - see you in year 2!!
I love what you have done here, I definitely like HDR, I think it came with the Nik silver trial download but I never saw it and I think it has run out now, I will need to raid the piggy bank to be able to purchase it!
@jo13 I am using Photomatix Jo and it is very simple to use to start with. I am sure it can be more technical but it has let me get some good results right from the start!! Thanks for your lovely comment!!
A fave for me, I really love the whole image and such wonderful, deep colors. Congrats on getting so close to the end of your 365. Your one more shot won't be the last, will it? I hope not!
@sansjuan thanks so much Nita for your lovely comments! I Will be carrying on with 365- I love being part of such a great community! Many thanks for your wonderful support which I really appreciate!
I can't help but give my standard HDR lecture. I wish there were two separate terms for two distinctly different techniques. HDR was originally meant to be a way to pull detail out of highlights and shadows by combining three or more images, and creating a REALISTIC image. Software geniuses discovered they could create a high contrast hard-line effect, with or without combining multiple images, and they also called this distinctly different result HDR. I wish there was a different name for it. In my opinion, this overcooked HDR has been overused, and I hope it goes away soon, at least for landscape photography. There are subjects, like the church in your photo, that look pretty good with it, but I would advise anyone trying this to ask themselves if it improves the original image. I do hope you have fun with it, but realize there are those of us who usually won't care for the results.
@rvwalker Oh well Ross you can't please them all!! I am still learning about HDR and trying out the different effects. Having great fun doing it and in this case apart from the sky I didn't think I had overcooked it too much. I had better be more restrained in future!! LOL!!
