My PC ground to a standstill yesterday so I have been deleting and doing housekeeping on it most of the day. Things I should have done ages ago!!
Anyway I came across this old shot of one of my favourite birds - the Kingfisher. This bird and it's mate I saw everyday for weeks a few years ago and I even managed to capture a flight shot!! That summer the River Nene flooded and I think the nests in the sandbanks were washed away. I have not seen a kingfisher since. So very sad!!
Tomorrow I am picking up my new car which has been on order since June!! I am very excited and a little nervous as I am having an automatic for the first time. My sister only drives automatic cars and it will be good to share the driving when we go away on holiday.
Wonderful shot Pam. We switched to auto recently (easier when my rheumatoid arthritis is playing up!) and we haven't looked back. Don't be nervous, it's a doddle 😊
What a beautiful image, Pam, so stunning in color and clarity. A new car on order since June? Must be very special. We got a "new" car recently, too. It's only 9 years old!
Super shot and colours. This Kingfisher has such different colours from ours. I'd be delighted to get a shot of one of ours - very skittish. Good luck with the car. You'll love an automatic...kind of a lazy way to drive, tho. :)
Beautiful shot. Don't worry about driving an automatic car as we hired one in Canada and absolutely loved it. I am going to buy an automatic next time I change my car. Fav
Gorgeous capture. I went looking to try to find the name of this kingfisher. Is it called the Common Kingfisher? Here the only kingfishers I see are the belted Kingfisher. They are not so colorful as this one.
Oh how I love these birds, have only seen one in my whole life, fab shot.
I have only ever had an automatic licence and it makes driving a breeze, enjoy your new car.
Kingfishers are top of my bucket list!!! You are so fortunate to have seen them so frequently.
Hope you are getting on with your automatic. I swapped to one in 2007 when I got my mini, my left knee is so flake I couldn't risk a long term car being a manual. I still drive Craig's manual........but it is so much more to think about, I prefer my point and shoot mini!
@pixiemac Loving my car so far - really a great drive up the M1 and into the hills of Derbyshire - it's diesel 1.6 and much more nippy than my previous petrol 1.6. I love the auto - just trying to get used to the extra functions on the car - it switches off when you stop and then restarts - keeps taking me by surprise!!
I need to find out where there are kingfishers as they seem to have gone from the Nene where I saw them a couple of years ago. The nests were flooded and they have not come back so far.
Wonderful shot, wonderful bird. They have been one of my favourites since I saw a picture of one in a Ladybird book as a child. Such beautiful colours. Glad you are enjoying your new car - it's so easy to get used to an automatic. I've had an automatic for a couple of years now - but on the odd occasion when I get to a junction I still go for the gears lol.
