The temperature has dropped to 9 degrees and with rain and a gale force wind I decided to have a go at lighting the wood burner for the first time. Success! A lovely warm glow of the logs burning. Very cosy I must say!

Yes it's very much colder today. The trouble is we've cleaned out the fire now ready for the winter! It's a wood stove, so the chimney was cleaned and the broken fire bricks replaced.
You can’t beat a wood burner for cosy warmth. Harry said he would light ours tonight but it’s actually a lovely sunny evening here plus I’m sitting next to the Aga so we didn’t light it in the end. I bet George & Finley love that!
