In the end, a slow ISP is a slow ISP…

A one-frame day. Installing a dual-band router.

We needed to upgrade from a 6-year old modem-router for security reasons and if-and-when we get faster internet service, the dual-band router will probably help a lot. In the meantime, however…

We have DSL service. As the ISP tech support guy told me, “Unfortunately with DSL, upload speeds really leave something to be desired. Unfortunately we have no way of increasing those.” So when I archive 5Mb .jpg files, they take about 2–3 minutes apiece. Yes, *each*. As a result, I tend to upload photos for storage in batches here-and-there during the day-and-night. This is part of the reason that I'm not as enthusiastic about photography at the moment.

Once I get the router installed and the networking configuration set, I'll investigate switching to cable, but for now I'm still stuck in the 90s or 00s…

[It took two trips to the retail store including a product exchange (with a "free" upgrade) and several hours over a few days, including three calls to Netgear tech support, but eventually Netgear & I installed the router.]

Congrats on getting the router installed. We live "way out in the country", but our solution was Verizon 4GLTE via a "jetpack" (which is essentially a telephone just for internet. Speed is very good!)
