Ancient Myrtle trees - or Huon Pines - can be many, many centuries, or even thousands, of years old. The size of this huge old tree can be seen by the gold umbrella at its base. Unfortunately they are now threatened by a root rot caused by a fungus transported on logging trucks tyres.
