A very dry landscape.. by robz

A very dry landscape..

This is not our favourite part of our bush block - it's all been cleared and planted with grass - we leave it like this as it is a fire break. Our neighbour runs her horses on it -that tree is the only decent large plant on this section. It seemed a suitable subject for the minimalist landscape challenge.
So dry. Transmitting a sense of solitude

It's almost as if I can feel the heat. Interesting how different this landscape looks in comparison to what I see every day.

Good thinking about the fire break. You could also plant lucerne in there, it's green in summer.

@caterina Thanks Caterina - it does look much better in summer - pretty green with lots of horses!

@30pics4jackiesdiamond Thanks Jackie - I really appreciate your comment as I find the whole minimalist thing a bit of a learning curve - still trying to figure out what exactly qualifies.

@cruiser The map of drought declared areas is quite depressing at the moment. There must be many brown paddocks around the state.

@toinette Hi again Marie - we have 4 distinct seasons here - because our altitude is quite high. So this paddock changes considerably throughout the year. At some stages it has grass 2 or 3 feet high.

@golftragic Hi Marnie - thanks for your suggestion. It is dry and a little frosted at the moment but it does green up in summer. We're not very good at the farming thing - better at planting trees in the interesting parts! :)

@robz I think contains practically nothing!! Bit detail

@30pics4jackiesdiamond LOL Jackie - such a concise explanation - thanks so much!! I'll have another go!

@robz don't rely on me!!!

@robz Fair enough, we always planted lucerne to the north and west of the house, not huge paddocks of, but enough to stop a grass fire. Makes good feed too, of course. And it's very deep-rooted so will come again after cutting.

@golftragic Ah - hadn't thought of it as part of a fire plan. A small section would be quite do-able. I'll mention it to Errol Thanks for explaining that!

@robz Well worth looking into for peace of mind if nothing else.
