Running the Boston Marathon with nearly 40K other runners from all over the world was a highlight of my life...just being there. Now I have pain for all those young people whose hopes and dreams are shattered or postponed because of this virus. I hope they have resilience and opportunity to pick up those hopes and dreams when this is over.
I think these kinds of things will come back. We will just have to be patient. If their desire is strong enough it will sustain the drive until they can run the race. I'm sure we're all rooting for anyone who has to wait for something special- like the high school sr. across the street from us who has to wait for her prom and diploma ceremony. Great half and half collage- very meaningful.
Everybody's life has been affected by the virus at the moment. Hopefully we will all be able to get back to some sort of normal when it is over. A great half and half that says it all.
Poignant image. Many people in this position around the world both in sport and in making a living. I feel for my son's generation who will have to pay for all the Lockdown economic troubles for probably the rest of their working lives. I feel for him just getting started and his first job gone before it began. I feel for so many who struggle and don't know who they will survive financially. Difficult times for so many, hope is going to be such an important thing in the months to come.
Amazing feat for you to run that marathon - must be one of your proudest moments!
