"Gather ye rose-buds while ye may,
Old Time is still a-flying;
And this same flower that smiles today,
Tomorrow will be dying."
- To the Virgins, to Make Much of Time
by Robert Herrick (1591 - 1674), English lyric poet
the secret garden (see http://365project.org/summerfield/365/2011-05-23 ) is teeming with baby pink roses when i visited at lunch time today. there were people reading, eating lunch and one middle-aged couple audaciously making out in broad daylight, oblivious (at first) to the person with a camera. i will have to go back and take a full shot with all the flowers, more likely later today when there are no people in it. this was shot at lunchtime before the downpour.

thursday, june 7 -it's 18 degrees celcius this morning and the forecast says we're going to hit 26, it will be a scorcher and very uncomfortable with the humidity. i'm off to ride the fundraiser 'big bike' at noon with officemates. at least it's not raining and i can take shots while others pedal away. (see http://www.bigbike.ca/site/c.qmL5JmO7KzE/b.3586889/k.C024/Home.htm )
@steeler - thank you, howard. the sun's shining bright this morning and we're going to have a scorcher, apparently, according to the forecast: 26 celcius! sigh! and i'm off to ride the fundraiser 'big bike' at noon with officemates. well, at least it's not raining and i can take shots while others pedal away.
Beautiful- love the poetry quote with it. You are the consumate woman today- poetry in the morning, and exercise at noon interspersed with a good dose of earning a living and trying to stay cool!
A gorgeous photo of such a beautiful flower ... love the colors especially! You are "poetry in motion today," my friend. Ride safely and have fun taking photos.
