monique and marilyn

my friend monique @moniquenadeau wanted to update her profile photos and asked me to do the honours. fifty-some shots and there were a few good ones, but this is the best of the lot. i didn't like that collage of the warholed marilyn monroe in the background at first but looking at the photo overall, i find it rather fun and monique's beautiful smile is the first point of focus and the eye keeps coming back to her face after browsing through the background.

we'll have to find time to re-shoot perhaps using the canon or the new nikon.

what do you think?

@moniquenadeau - i posted this on your fb page.

Nicely done. Isn't it nice to be able to take 50 shots and choose the best? Digital changes everything!

Very nice portrait, Vicky.

She looks good! Why did she quit posting on 365?

I like this portrait. She has a natural expression, appears warm and inviting. The Warhol in the background is muted and I think the color is good.

I think it is beautiful. She looks very relaxed in the picture which I think makes for a better portrait.

This is a lovely shot, she does look relaxed and open. I find doing portraits really challenging and near impossible.

Really lovely!

This is very nice- I like how relaxed she appears. The color behind her is actually nice. Maybe you could blur Marilyn somehow.

Really lovely portrait, and yes, I find doing those sessions where people pose the most difficult of all....I much prefer candid shots where the person does not know I am there at all. That being said you did a great job here, and her trust in you is evident. Personally, I find her skin color a little cool and grey for my taste. It might be the lighting in the space, especially if there were fluorescent bulbs. Maybe a little color balance in RAW, just a tad more light on her face to bring her our from the background and set her off from Marilyn! ;-))

She has lovely dark eyes and a candid smile - its not a portrait type photo but a personality photo which you have created!
