day 6 of the flash of red february. today we're doing low key emphasizing on black. the key is not actually black but some deep brown colour. in acrylic paint colours, the colour is called van dyke brown which is more like the colour of, yes, you guessed it, brown!
you know the nice thing about the fairy light curtain on my wall, the lighting is adjustable from really very bright (#5) to muted (almost a whisper) or very low light (#1). perfect if i want to have bokeh background. i think it's a brilliant idea (pun intended, of course) and i love it (the lights).
the title of course refers to the hobbit even though this key here looks more like the 'alice in wonderland key'.

i am now officially an ornery old person. on the bus a young man seated opposite me on the blue seat designated to the elderly and those with disabilities or pregnant women, was playing with his phone, his mask undone. first i said 'please put on your mask, young man'. he just looked at me and said 'i know'. he was making short coughs and sniffling, so i tapped my walking stick and asked him again. he said 'leave me alone'. a big guy, really big guy in height and body, who was wearing a mask, approached him and told him, 'the lady asked you nicely to put on your mask, you either put it on or i will personally throw you off this bus.' he (being a smaller built man) looked up, up, and more up, looked at the man and his hand crept to his mask and pushed it up his face.
i heard in one of these talk shows before that we older people have certainly earned the right to be ornery.
Very nice low key and story. I have the opposite problem in San Francisco. Young people jump up to give me their seat, even a very pregnant young woman. I think of myself as robust and in no need of a seat when I can stand on the bus. That very nice young woman would not hear otherwise.
Oh... that really was rude. And i can't see the ornery. I mean, if that big guy agreed with you... i'm afraid he.ll throw me off the bus too. But really... no ornery here.
The key makes a splendid low key image. And I seriously need some fairy lights like those. Awesome bokeh. So good you had someone back you up on your simple request on the bus.
Magically mystical. I like the idea of a fairy light curtain. I'll have to see if I can find one here.
How wonderful to be backed up by someone whose size alone demands respect and compliance.
Very nice low key shot Vikki. We've been back in masks since mid January and I'm surprised by the number of people that I see not wearing them properly.
Love your key and your lights . Maybe if you have to do high key you can do this shoot again. Need to see more of that key. I'm glad someone stepped in and helped you out. It takes a village
There are times when it is necessary to be that old person!
This is an awesome low key shot!!!
