that's our magic word for today: "wandered"
the two grands are here this weekend. my niece and i took them to see the movie "puss in boots" or something like that at the little cinema right next to the market. at the cinema lobby, there is an old dilapidated grand piano where anyone who can play (amateurs, please do not touch! the notice indicated) can play. my niece, who knows how to play sat down and played a few bars to the delight of some of the patrons waiting for the movies to start - we came about 30 minutes early.
after the movie, we 'wandered' around the market to have a late lunch. we had sushi and i bought some fruits for the next two days as this particular market is closed on sundays and mondays. my niece found her hallowe'en costume for tonight - a penquin hat with mittens attached, which she can also use during the winter.
then we walked back to the subway station to go to the big bookstore as the nine-year-old grandson was asking to have a chess set and the little one asked for cinnabon.
the photos above were taken as we wandered around the market and our walk to the subway station through the park.
ahha that is peameal bacon! weird! and what is the deal with that pumpkin? please tell me, what is a cinnabon? I'm feeling very inadequate down here not knowing this stuff! cool collage!
@roth - hahaha! ride the bike to st. lawrence already and get yourself a peameal bacon kaiser with lots of trimmings! i'd join you but i don't eat meat anymore. i found out that if you're around there at 4 to 5 in the afternoon on a saturday, the fruits and veggies are cheap probably has something to do with the two-day closure. going back there again for sure on a saturday afternoon. thank you, sue.
@espyetta - thank you, MB. i try to give the grandsons a good experience whenever they're here. and they feel comfortable, too, knowing that i'm here when they're here. i shall miss them while i'm away lying in the sun on a white-sand beach. :-)
@cscecil - thank you, CS. yes the boys had fun. they always like going out with me and my niece because we give them quality time and engage them in sensible activities. my partner, too, likes to take them mini-golfing and he plays board games with them a lot. the sun was shining brightly after we came out of the cinema so it was a very pleasant walk albeit too many people. but we enjoyed our wandering.
@russianblue - it was a fun day, indeed. don't start with cinnabon with me. oy, if i wasn't watching my cholesterol, i'd have finished half the box of the 15 mini's already! hahaha! now, i'm just contented scraping the candied cinnamon left on the parchment paper lining. ooooohhhh! so delicious. the cholesterol in my veins are pulsating right now! thank you, kass!
@danig - you see, the pea meal bacon is all lean meat, so it is better than the strip bacon which, most of the time, is full of fat. this is what is known as either back bacon or canadian back bacon.
now, cinnabon is a brand of cinnamon rolls that is so freakingly delicious, it melts in your mouth. oh, heavens, it is hard to describe and explain because....sorry, it took a while, i had to eat one. i'll take a pic of what remains and i'll email it to you. hehehehe! but i assure you, it's so good. they also have the kind where they lace it with butterscoth and pecan pieces. oy momma!
stop it! stop it! stop it!!! :-)
the pumpkin? that is displayed on the window of a health care shop we passed by on the way. i seriously think it used to be a prince but someone put a smell on him so he became a warty pumpkin.
you should come here already. it would be good writing for your sunday best blog. woot!
@steeler - thank you, howard. we saw some sharks, too. but just a small one, and it was on ice. well, it's probably not a shark, tuna maybe. but there were shark steaks being sold, too. it was a lovely and fruitful afternoon for the boys.
@jannkc - you could've done a before and after collage. that would've been nice. my fuji bridge camera has a 'panorama' function and i took a pic of my living room. wow! did the little space look like an arena. i figured that's what the real estate people do to sell homes, make them look really spacious! thanks for the comment, jann. much appreciated.
looks like you had a really wonderful afternoon. we love going to the movies with the kids. i really like the center photo of your neice playing the piano. i see one of your grandsons there in the background, too. nice shot.
@catsmeowb - yes, the little one wanted to play, too. they enjoyed the afternoon. it will be a while before i see them again, at least it will be after i come back from my trip. thank you, camille.
Lovely collage!
