things that say "merry Christmas" - trees

i just realized that Christmas comes in seven days from now. i have not really prepared for it, and i don't think i'll have people over during the holidays. but i will still be preparing something so that at least the fridge feels and smells 'Christmassy'.

so for this week, i will take pictures of things that relate to Christmas. i have actually put up my Christmas tree ten days ago and i have put on the glittery balls. but i will put on the lights on thursday, just before the grands come and i will make them feel how special Christmas is by making them turn on the lights.

one problem though, i haven't bought any presents for anyone. ooops! maybe i bring the grands to a games store and let them choose the games they want and hopefully i can afford them.

sooc but for the framing and the name tag. my tree looks so forlorn, doesn't it? tinsels! must get some!
cool perspective, good luck with your shopping! the kids would love to shop with you i'm sure! lol

Nice tree. Christmas is coming way to soon for me. Melody suggested that I give her some money and she will go out and buy her own present as she is pretty sure what I am going to buy her

@sunnygreenwood - thank you, anne. i think i will take them to the game store on friday night and let them loose for ten minutes. :-)

@myautofocuslife - aww, thank you, livia. very kind of you.

@bkbinthecity - and i say to you, brian: listen to melody. and give her something extra (melody: wink! wink!) as she's been good all year. thank you, brian.

@sarasdadandmom - thank you, terry. :-)

@steeler - of course, the main one! when i was young i only got a main gift, nothing more. good luck to you on this brave battle. thank you, howard.

@alia_801 - thank you, alia. my plan of "opposites-challenge" this week got foiled by busy workload and coming up blank! next challenge maybe.

Nice shot of the tree- a few lights and the kids will make it perfect.

@jannkc - thank you, jann. i'm sure the lights should do the trick for this tree.

Nice perspective and I am sure you will have much fun when you let the grandchildren do the lights.

@pamfromcalgary - thank you, pam. i'll make a big do out of it - turn off all the lights, except for a candle or two on the table, some hot cocoa and cookies. (cookies! i must buy cookies!) that always makes the tree special.

That tree says, "Merry Christmas!" What a great idea for the grandkids! I never even thought about doing that . . but I'll bet that any kid would be thrilled to pick out his own toy! Great photo, summerfield!

@karenann - thank you, karenann.

What a nice tree! I would surprise them with that trip to the game store- pretend like you're going somewhere else and then end up there instead. I'd also give them a budget- otherwise you might get walloped with the big $$ games. Have fun!!

oh, so pretty and not forlorn at all. and what a great idea about going to the store with the grans. you never know these days what they want or already have for games. we, too, have our shopping lists in hand and are heading out either this afternoon or tomorrow, depending on the roads. storm supposed to be coming in today. we are always last minute, i like to do it this way, that way i know what the boys have gotten their children and i can fill in the holes. also, they ask for specific things their parents don't get them, like mila asking for a baby doll. no one would get it for her. said she was 'too old'. last year felicity wanted a red wagon. told no one else. guess that is what i am here for! this year she wants a crayon maker. it is way cool. costs $25, so i hope they still have some. bet they went fast.

@olivetreeann - i'll be making a large 'certificate' for them saying a surprise visit to the game store on such and such dates. they will be here until the 30th, as part of their parents' custody agreement. so it should work perfectly. i already bought them those batterized toothbrushes and clothes so they have something to open on Christmas morning. thank you, ann.

@catsmeowb - thank you, camille. the little one wants a 'hot wheels magnetic' and i have no idea what it was until i searched the internet and all outlets selling it has nothing in stock. so a trip to wal-mart at midnight either tonight or tomorrow (tonight, preferably) is in order. wal-mart seem to have everything these days. good luck with your shopping. i can't handle being around so many people and i hate long line ups!

It doesn't look forlorn -- it looks like a tree full of potential and possibilities -- and it's "beginning to look a lot like Christmas" -- as all trees should! I'm kind of shocked that Christmas is this week -- and I'm not sweating gifts like I have in past years. Let's go for what's important!

@cscecil - well, so far i have received a chocolate sleigh, a dozen cards, a starbucks gift card, and a large yummy homemade fruit cake. and i like it that way! thank you, CS.

@danig - i changed my mind about the tinsel. metallic garlands, that's what it needs. thank you, DG.
