hello, gorgeous! by summerfield

hello, gorgeous!

it's been miserably raining the whole day today. we hit plus 7 celcius but it doesn't mean anything when it's crappy. came home and plotted out what i will post for tonight as i didn't go around to take pics. looking around my book shelves, i found this set of BS DVD's that i bought a long time ago and i thought they were in one of the boxes in the storage. these are the barbra streisand TV specials from last century. so i watched a couple of DVD's and didn't realize it's late and i still didn't have a photo. i was about to put them away when i figured i can photograph it so i can have a photo for today. so i did.

i got this many years ago. cased it for a long time at the HMV shop but the cost was too restrictive - $169 canadian. i mean who buys these things? one day, i went to the store again to find something else and i saw that this was on sale for half price. i promptly forgot what i went in there for because i hauled the pack to the cashier and paid a measly $69 for it. who says you can't buy streisand for cheap.

i've watched some of the discs but when i moved here five years ago, all my stuff were boxed and some were put in storage.

i love barbra streisand's voice. i watched her concert when she came to toronto a few years ago and it was well worth the money i paid for the ticket. it was a once in a lifetime opportunity and i wasn't about to miss it so i coughed up the dough and i saw her in person. i almost cried when she sang "what are you doing the rest of your life" because that is my favourite song ever.

so now, because i goofed off from my 365 project, i am behind again. :-) but i have a good excuse!

good night, everyone.
Good night to you. I have to say that there are certain things in life that are just to good to pass on and I am sure that was one of them. Hope you get some nice weather tomorrow

I so happy to see that you got some of your memories out of storage and shared them with us. What fun to see the legend "herself! She is special . . beautiful voice. That is still a great question, isn't it, summerfield. "What are you doing the rest of your life!" I still ask myself that question every single morning.

I like your photo, another Streisand fan here. My sister and I always said we'd go see her but never did - good for you for seeing her. Must have been incredible.

@bkbinthecity - rain tapering to snow today. it just leaves me pining for the islands in the old country. sigh! thank you, brian.

@karenann - when i was young and fell in love and we had plans of getting married, i thought i'd have someone sing this song for us. but there are things that would never be. "we" still like this song until now, but we just listen to it: the other half of "we" is 13 hours ahead :-) thank you, karenann.

@danig - thank you, DG.

@slash - it was indeed incredible to have to hear her sing in person. her range is half a note lower now but her voice is just incredible. and her skin is really like butter! thank you, susan.

love the photo - not a huge fan as not into her style of music but one of her movies is one of my favs but it is a horrible remake - a star is born - i like the songs and love kris k in it although i cry earlier each time i watch it - he looks and sounds almost exactly like my brother, jeffrey, at that age and behaves likes he did under the influence. the last song, for one more look at you, gets to me.

that's a lot of Streisand....they did do a good job packaging her. thankfully you didn't buy it the first time you saw it because your reaction might have been different.

@catsmeowb - not a fan of kk, although he's a great actor. just not into the bearded types, maybe. thank you, camille.

@lesip - leslie, anything over a hundred is expensive to me and i know, if i wait long enough, it would go on sale. that's how i accumulated all my books, CD's and DVD's. thank you.

@gbert204955 - thank you, gilbert.
