"ladies and gentlemen, this is niagara falls!" - announcement by the tour guide of the 'maid of the mist' boat tour upon the boat's reaching the foot of the mighty niagara (canadian falls) falls, when all you see is thick white mists, and all you hear is the thundering sound, from the heavy spray produced by the thousands of gallons of water falling from 170 plus feet onto the niagara river. by this time, you're all soaked and dripping wet, despite the raincoats provided before boarding, as the heavy winds produced by the falling waters would have blown the raincoats into disarray. hair dripping wet, cameras' lenses soaked in mists. you look up and you see where the water is coming from, you see people gawking down with their cameras, tiny like ants, the sun shining brightly against that clear blue sky. it puts you in perspective, how small you are compared to everything else around you, and that someone so powerful has created such beauty and splendour. some cry in witnessing such event for the first time, others oooh-ing and aaah-ing, and you, trying to do some kind of snap meditation despite the chaotic sounds around you, when suddenly someone taps your shoulder. you turn around and you see a man, water dripping all over his face, offers you his camera and asks if you could please take a picture of him and his wife.
tourists!

the photo is supposed to be "minimal" in concept, but the accompanying diatribe is quite long and are you sleepy yet?
shot from the casino niagara falls' lookout terrace. sooc but for the name tag.
@abby365 - you should go in the early morning when there's not a lot of people yet along the avenue and you can get good shots, but the only problem is you're facing the sun. i'd have loved to have caught the sunrise with the falls though. next time maybe. thank you, abby.
@bkbinthecity - of couse, i did. i took about five and when i saw them at the base of the ferris wheel, they thanked me and said they loved the photos. they showed me and holy cow, i was good! hahahaha! thank you, brian.
@silverdraggin - when you come to niagara, i will drag you into the boat with me. hahaha! it's a great adventure and you will love it! thank you, meiska. let me know when you will come.
@steeler - yes! yes! come and i will take you and the family to see it. there's also a 'walk behind the falls' thing that i yet have to do. thank you, howard.
@danig - mate, i'm dying for you to come and see this. we will have a blast. i think that i should start saving for a night's stay at the suite. the view was spectacular! you will love it. thank you, DG.
@danig - and it would be nice to have a favourite person in the car/cage when riding the ferris wheel. i went by myself and almost peed in my pants and a lot of my photos were tilted! hahahaha!
Your comments never make me sleepy .... and you have captured the immense size of the falls in this photo! The flag puts it all into perspective! Fabulous work on this. A FAV!
@karenann - thank you, karenann. that's very kind of you. i was playing around with zooming in and out and i just caught the flag at the right instance. lucky shot, i suppose!
@danig - didn't pee my pants, i said 'almost' hahahaha. tilted because i was so afraid to make any more movements than i had to, i was afraid the screws would all come lose and i'd fall off the wheel! hahahaha!
@olivetreeann - thank you, ann. the boats go right next to the drop and the force of the water just bounces back to the boats. makes for defective cameras afterwards. hahaha. camera companies must love that!
@netkonnexion - thank you, damon. i was looking at your toucan shot and i see that you left comments on my pics. it was quite funny. but thank you. i'm trying so hard to catch up with everyone's pics.
Fantastic capture. Love the story too. My son has been trying to collect a coin from every country. Up to about 90 now. He hasn't collected Canada yet, cause he says he wants to go there to get it. Been thinking of driving him to Niagara falls so he can pick one up.
