whew! i was afraid i might have to use a filler for today's seven, turned out i didn't.
partner had invited her daughter and her fiancé for lunch at the woodbine racetrack. and of course, he couldn't go without me so i said, okay but i will bring my camera! :-)
this is race 2 of today's thoroughbred cards. number 2 won, by the way, which was way in front of this pack which got cropped out because even though you can see six horses heads, there are clearly seven jockeys' heads and the butt of the seventh horse is clearly visible in the very back. partner won money on this race. (and never mind the sloppy cloning out i did at the back. there was a large EMS truck and it distracted from the horses so out it went.)
and that concludes this week's seven numbers. thank you for your kind visits and comments, know that they are much appreciated.
@sarasdadandmom - thank you, terry. no, not this time i didn't, but i told them that @2 would win and it did. i think partner bet on the #2 because he won some money. i go by the horse's stance during post parade. but today, all i wanted was to practice using my camera.
@roth - no, this was before the rain came in and it wasn't a downpour over there, just some big drops. we were surprised at the flooding that we had avoided later on. thank you, sue.
FANTASTIC action capture ...perfect timing and pov! Love the dirt/mud getting kicked up and sprayed. As it should be. Wonderful work here, summerfield. You rocked this.
@karenann - hahaha! thank you, karenann. i hardly rocked it. it's just that the camera has a faster shutter unlike my p&s. 490 shots and more than half are bad, really bad, as in should be deleted bad. thank you, karenann. i'm so glad you like it.
good focus on fast moving animals! good finish to the numbers, too. been to many harness races but have never actually seen a flat race. wanted to be a jockey when i was a kid - before there were female jockeys. prayed every night i would not grow taller than 5'2" because everyone in my family, men and women, are 5'6". got my wish but did not follow through. Boo to me.
@pandorasecho - i think i've seen that kind of racing in florida. i watched too many horces race last sunday. normally i don't pay attention. :-) thank you, dixie.
This is odd, cause I swear I commented on this when you posted it. I remember I thought it was a great action shot. You should try out a week of sports photography sometime. You seem to be a natural. Love the movement of the horses, the intensity of the race. All captured perfectly. But...wait...you cloned out an EMS truck? OH.....WOW. Just like that. My fellow workers, wiped out. No recognition for they're services. So messed up. :P Just kidding. I would have cloned them out too. hahahaha.
@losthorizon - :-) i was reading your comment and suddenly, as soon as i got to the 'EMS' i felt a fang of guilt, remembering you're an EMS worker. so sorry, but you're also a photographer so you know what dilemna i was in. thank you, beau. as for the one week of sports, that could be possible. we're going to the races on monday, and there's a roger's cup (tennis) happening next week and there are certainly a lot of soccer grounds around where i live. you're on! when do we start? i only have one challenge going on now. :-)
@summerfield I like the idea of the theme. I'm up for the challenge. Gonna be away on vacation this week. But when I get back, let me know if you still wanna try. Sounds fun. As for the EMS thing, no worries. Was just kidding. Like I said, I would have erased it too.
