white mum by summerfield

white mum

i can't find a photo of this flower on the internet but i'm guessing this is a spider mum. you pretty ladies please correct me and i will change my title.

i was ready to go in the dead of night and cut all the daisies and echinaceas the city planted around the parking lot beside our building, but partner said it might be illegal (that's why i was going to do it when no one's looking, huh?) to pick the city's flowers.

four blocks east of the danforth there are four flower shops competing for business, two are italian-owned, one is syrian or maybe iranian, and the other is chinese. guess who sells cheap? the chinese woman was about to close her shop but being a chinese businesswoman, she let the potential buyer (that's me) browse around. i needed just one stem because i need to have something cheery for my friend the radiator. there was this lone flower which she gave me for a dollar. but that was because i promised i was going to come back to get a pot of beautiful jade plant, which i intend to do, if i don't forget. she also asked what i want to do with just one stem of flower and i said i need to photograph a flower. she said if at anytime i want to photograph a flower, just come and she will give me a deal. i told her that if she wanted i can take photos of her arrangements and she can make herself an album to show her customers. she was quite excited. now i hope i don't forget to go back there.

i thank you once again for your views and kind comments; they are mucho appreciated. i will catch up with your albums on the weekend.
Great photo. The line up is looking good and very entertaining story.

What a brilliant idea!! I don't care what kind of flower this is ...it's gorgeous against that radiator (which I am now in love with!) Maybe you could turn this into a little business ... taking photos for some of these stores. (Or at least get free floral bouquets!) You're incredible, summerfield. You know how to live life to it's fullest.

This flower looks like my favorite type of firework display. It could be fun to do a photographic display of her arrangements too. Cool meeting there

Cool story...we will. It let you forget! I think this flower was perfect for this! You picked a good one!

I really like the way this is lining up- and I also like the alternate green and white pattern you have going on with your objects- or maybe you hadn't noticed that. hehe.

A flower by any other name is still pretty. I made that up.

What a radiating series you have going

Beautiful shot of the flower, and great story behind it! Don't forget to go back and get pics for the Chinese lady!

@pamfromcalgary - thank you, pam. that radiator is getting longer!

@karenann - hahaha! no, i don't think so. but partner is talking to a restaurant somewhere outside of the city to see if they would like to hang some of my photos on their wall. i will also contribute two or three or my photos to our silent auction charity campaign here at the office. nah, i'm not that good to turn this into a business. at least not right now. thank you for your confidence in me, my friend. i like that.

@pandorasecho - i should find more of that on the weekend. i think i want to do flowers next week for shapes! thank you, dixie.

@espyetta - yeah, it was either a bunch of 3 red roses (which i hate) for $3.99 or this one stem for $2.99 and i just haggled my way so i paid just a dollar for it. hehehe. and i inspected it, there were no bugs of any sort! :-) thank you, MB.

@olivetreeann - thank you, ann. this is stretching my very limited creativity to the max, is all i can say!

@sarasdadandmom - and you said/wrote it quite well. thank you, terry.

@steeler - hahaha! you always come up with the best one-liner. thank you, howard.

@alia_801 - yeah, i shouldn't forget, i really want to get that very beautiful pot of jade plant she has at that shop and at $16 it's quite reasonable. thank you, alia.

These are starting to remind me of huck Finns white picket fence. Or was that Tom Sawyer?

your radiator is looking fantastic, and with each day's treasure in front? so lovely! what a great idea you had.

your lines are looking cool!

@pandorasecho - tom sawyer. he was punished for being in a fight after school so he was made to whitewash the fence. isn't it? it does look like a picket fence now. maybe i can trade my treasures so i can get points for a Bible, too! :-) thank you, dixie.

@catsmeowb - thank you, camille. i suppose they can be treasures. i just look around my messy back room and see what i can display by the radiator for a shot.

@danig - thank you, DG. 'tis a good thing it's not winter or those lines would be hot because it'd be on. :-)

Beautiful flower. Like how you can just barely make out the vase.

@losthorizon - you can't see the vase because it wasn't in a vase. it had a really long stalk so i just stuck it between the spaces of the radiator so that it's actually 'floating'. tricky, eh? thank you, beau.
