damon @netkonnexion yesterday asked to see more of the building that was the background in yesterday's "this afternoon" post. there you go, damon.
this is the only angle i can take a full shot of this building. the street it's on, front street east, is rather narrow. and add to that there are cars parked on the opposite side (where i was) so it was kind of difficult to get the photo straight. from where i shot yesterday's photo you can only see the top of the building due to trees blocking the view.
the building is called the "beardmore building" and is one of the older buildings around toronto. the Beardmore Building is a beautifully ornate building that originally housed the offices of a tannery and leather goods company. it was built in 1872 and features original bare bricks and lovely exposed beam ceilings. now the historic building is home to "winners" a thrift department store kind of like marshall's.
i don't know if it is because i am quite short but i have a problem shooting buildings. i can't quite get the right angle so that they are straight. or maybe i need a wide angle lens?
thank you for your visits and kind comments; they are much appreciated.
I have no idea how to photograph buildings at all! This one in your shot looks interesting. I like the warm tones of its brick walls. The pattern of arches is lovely.
I don't think it is your height. Buildings look different unless there have been some visual tricks by the architect. So they are crooked looking to the camera because pillars are altered to trick the eye. No seriously I don't have a clue what im talking about but this is a fantastic building
I think your building shot is fine! Anyone can shoot a building straight on. Angle shots to me are more interesting. And I like the contrast of the blue sky to the tan building in this one.
