time in a bottle by summerfield

time in a bottle

If I could save time in a bottle
The first thing that I'd like to do
Is to save every day
Till Eternity passes away
Just to spend them with you

If I could make days last forever
If words could make wishes come true
I'd save every day like a treasure and then,
Again, I would spend them with you

But there never seems to be enough time
To do the things you want to do
Once you find them
I've looked around enough to know
That you're the one I want to go
Through time with

If I had a box just for wishes
And dreams that had never come true
The box would be empty
Except for the memory
Of how they were answered by you

But there never seems to be enough time
To do the things you want to do
Once you find them
I've looked around enough to know
That you're the one I want to go
Through time with

finally! this was hard work, and i almost gave up. but it's a function right there in camera and my boneheadedness tells me not to give up or just throw the camera on to the lake. i was able to download/upload and ta-dah!

you remember, of course, from last month's challenge the carafe and the clock from the high key challenge two weeks ago.

at first i couldn't think of a title then a little song popped in my head. ah, james croce, god bless your soul. now, i think it'll be hard to get rid of that song. come on then, sing with me! (the rejected shot is posted here: http://one-photograph-a-day.blogspot.ca/2012/08/day-912-me-in-bottle.html
Cool! My mom loved tHis song so much! What function did you use? What was so hard?? Am too ignorant to know! Haha! Very nea pic. Love the symmetry and how you put in the glasses and not just the bottle...

I like it - I'm glad that you persevered. Now I'm singing the song . . .

Sue
one of my favorite songs, how did you get the time in the bottle?

Very clever... Your perseverance paid off....

Love the low light capture ... beautiful pov and reflections. I'm with MaryBeth .. what was the problem? You got a lovely photo here!

@espyetta - tried to do double exposure using image overlay in camera but my photo reader won't read it because it's in raw file. camera will only do raw. and i didn't know how to do overlay in any of the post processing program. but my old nikon p&s has a software (installed in one of the boys' netbook) that can do the double exposure, almost like a photoshop. @karenann

@tara11 - thank you, tara. the song will disappear in about 2 days :-)

@roth - i saved it! hahaha! image overlay. thank you, sue.

@lesip - thank you, leslie.

Great job with this and do love the song!

I think this turned out very beautiful. The D5100 will do it in fine or raw. Originally I thought it was the bracketing option but it's not it's in the menu top left. Once I found that I just had to turn that option "on" and it worked pretty easy for me.

so ..one of my favourite songs and a great capture

Beautiful shot! Love the symmetry :)

It's very pretty! I think I'll post a filler today as my version of this song. It was one of my favorites in high school (but I'm not really that old!).

@pamfromcalgary - thank you, pam. much appreciated.

@myhrhelper - thank you, kathy. i might go for another entry, just figuring out how. my film shots sucked big time, but i haven't really finished looking at them.

@alia_801 - thank you, alia.

@olivetreeann - thank you, ann. i am surprised that there's a lot of young people who know this song, and i haven't heard any 'remake' of it. it's a great song, so it's not surprising.
August 25th, 2012
@summerfield I think it gets played at weddings a lot!
August 25th, 2012
Love the lyrics of the song. And this shot is fabulous. Great lighting!

@myautofocuslife - thank you, livia.
August 25th, 2012
Love it
August 25th, 2012
fav, this is gorgeous. so you could not do this with the camera itself, had to use the computer to do it? i have not looked into this at all.
August 25th, 2012
Love this shot, you have captured the 'glass' well.....I find it sooo difficult to take good shots of glass objects.
August 25th, 2012
@catsmeowb - thank you, camille, you're so kind. yes, you can do image overlay in camera but our D3100 can only do it for raw (NEF) files. my problem is/was whatever photo viewer i use in my laptop (windows? microsoft? i don't know) does not read raw files. but the little netbook that the grandsons use can read raw files and my niece saved it as jpg. so you can do it, too, in your camera, but it depends on your computer if it can read raw files.

@abhijit - thank you, ab.

@lesleyallen - thank you, lesley. i got the same comment sometime ago, that it is difficult to shoot glass or crystal.
August 25th, 2012
Very cool Shot. I can see why this would be a lot of work. Good on you for not giving up
August 26th, 2012
Very well done! I always loved that song. He went too soon.

So this is a bit weird. I've been humming Jim Croce songs all day, and was trying to think of how I could take a photo to pay tribute to him and his music. Trying to catch up on all my favorite photographers on here, I saw the lyrics, and was stunned. Great concept, lighting.
