shredded butter and meringue by summerfield

shredded butter and meringue

pissing rain all day today and got dripping wet not once but three times. i had a jacket and a raincoat on as i didn't want the risk of the darn camera getting wet. went to the allan gardens to see what kind of display they have. lots of mums and like flowers but what attracted me were these. they're as big as my head and the petals look so delicate and yummy. they come in dark pink, red, light green and lilac. but these two, the yellow one looks like shredded butter (i shred my butter if i forget to leave it out to soften when i have to do some baking), and the white one looks like meringue! any of you pretty ladies know what these flowers are called?

my french and spanish got tested while at the gardens. first, a trio of funny-speaking peeps, must be polish or something, asked me if i can take their photo. three of them have a camera each and each one wanted a shot of the three of them together. one has a coolpix L810 and i think i like that camera. the shutter is quite fast for a p&s; one had an iPhone5, i like that, too; and the third one had a sony mirrorless. not one spoke english so i had to talk to them in french, the coolpix lady was particularly fluent my french sounded like the poor cousin from the farm.

then another group, must be latinos. no english, too! my goodness, how do these people go around without any knowledge of english! so my limited spanish got used up, too. in one day!

then on my way home, my cellphone beeped. there was a text message, holy crap! in code language! i think it's filipino. i hope it's not urgent because i accidentally deleted it!

if you are so inclined, my either or october posting is here: http://365project.org/summerfield/365-again/2012-10-27

thank you, my friends, for your kind visits and comments; know that they are truly appreciated. now on to your albums!

These flowers are stunning .... I really love the white one! ALOT> Are these mums? You did a fantastic job of capturing them and love the colors with your perfect descriptions. "Butter and meringue." I'll be sure to take you along when I'm around French and Spanish speaking foreigners. Studied both languages in college and forgot them immediately. Good for you!! You can travel anywhere, my friend and get around ... a true survivor. :)

@summerfield they are beautiful and I believe they are a fancy type of chrysanthemum, Great combo picture!
October 28th, 2012
I agree they are probably chrysanthemums although also slightly reminiscent of a fancy dahlia. Great capture what ever thay are!

Perfect title think I'll get me some toast... I find myself asking people if they want me to take their picture so their all in it. Even if they don't speak English I pretend to hold a camera and push the button. FAV

@lesip - thank you, leslie. i do that, too, most times. but most times, too, i'd be asked when i'm totally concentrating on a shot and wished they'd wait a bit before asking. i don't mind helping otherwise.
